Jabra is the sound company that I never tire of recommending: having tried many of their products, I can still say that the brand knows how to manufacture high quality devices capable of adapting to different situations.
In this case, I spent several weeks testing the Elite 7 Active, a small listeners within the section Jabra Active products. As you might have guessed, this section covers devices intended for use while playing sports. This means that a design that fits your ear well or your sealing requirements will be essential in this type of product.
Does the Jabra Active Elite 7 meet these requirements for athletes? I will tell you about my experience with them below. listeners.
Design: Suitable for athletes
I like to start by always talking about design. In the end, this is what will come into our eyes: are they pretty, do they meet our tastes? It’s true that “the colors are to your liking”, but in this case Jabra offers a fairly standard design that will surely appeal to almost anyone.
In fact, in terms of design, I can’t have a single flaw. And, of course, when we talk about design we talk about aesthetics, but also about finish, durability of the material of the product, its ergonomics or even its comfort to the ear (or not).
Well, the finish, as always with Jabra, prime. They look and feel like an expensive premium product. The product box with its rounded edges and matte finish with the Jabra logo embossed on the top gives the device a very elegant touch.
The model I tried is navy blue, but it also exists in black, for the more classic, and in “mint”, for the more daring. (Mint means turquoise in this case).
Now, are they comfortable? The truth is yes. In fact, you will forget that you wear them several times, especially thanks to their function understood (which I will discuss in detail later).
I’ve used them in the gym, in long cardio sessions (less than I’d really like). And yes, I can say that the Elite 7 Active have not once tried to slip out of my ear.
They fit perfectly, without getting in the way, without being heavy and without that feeling that I have had with other brands that the helmet could slip if I run a little more than necessary.
This is likely due to what Jabra dubbed ShakeGrip, a type of technology that allows the headset to fit snugly without applying pressure. The earbud rubber is made of liquid silicone rubber (hence that secure fit).
It should be mentioned that although when I used the earphones the most it was in the gym, they are also suitable for everyday use: in the metro, on planes, at home… The Active Elite 7 will feel light, comfortable in your ear, and secure.
Sound quality: do they disappoint?
After talking about its exterior, let’s talk about what really matters to us when we go to buy headphones: do they sound good?
The price of the Jabra Elite Active 7 indicates that they must sound good through the nose. A pair of headphones at $179.99 (now reduced to $129.99), should deliver sound quality prime.
They’re doing it? Without further ado: they do.
Jabra is a brand prime specializes in audio, so it’s no surprise that good sound quality is present in virtually all of the brand’s devices we tested.
The sound is clear, brilliant, with detail. The bass sounds strong, you will enjoy that low of any reggaeton song while you practice that will definitely get you going.
Everything is improved thanks to its ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). You can turn it on and off by tapping the right earbud. Jabra masters this tool: the Elite 7 truly isolates you from the outside world. As I mentioned above, I use them in the gym.
To be exact: I use them in a gym which is almost always crowded (unfortunately). This means that there is music, machine noises, people talking, class noises in the background… Just by activating the ANC of the Elite 7, all this noise of background disappears.
It’s so insulating that you shouldn’t use it if you’re walking down the street because it won’t allow you to hear traffic noise or any hazards around you.
In those cases, that’s when my favorite feature comes into play (without which now I wouldn’t know how to use headphones). Listening function. This technology activates the microphones built into the headphones so you can hear the sound around you.
That is to say, by touching the button of the earphone left, you will hear all ambient sounds very well. No, it’s not just about deactivating the ANC since, in this way, the own Material This would block the sound from outside to some extent. After all, you have a “plug” stuck in your ear.
With Hear Through, you can hear through the headphones. This means that if someone comes to talk to you while you’re on the headset, you can just press the Hear Through button to hear the person instead of having to remove the headset.
I use this function on the street, because it allows me to be more aware of everything that is happening around me.
Obviously, the ANC and the Hear Through function can be configured via the Jabra Sound+ app. You can also customize the sound, choose certain listening modes. You will also know that the app allows you to identify your exact hearing profile in order to provide you with a sound experience that exactly matches your hearing needs.
Now on to the bad (no, they’re not perfect). The Elite 7 headphones can be used to receive calls and this is where in my case they do not offer the expected quality.
While I can hear people calling me perfectly, my callers end up complaining about all the noises they can hear in the background (especially if I use them while walking down the street).
It’s as if the microphones were so sensitive that my interlocutors hear my voice as well as the siren of the ambulance passing in front of me or the conversations of others on the bus.
So every time I receive a call and I wear the Elite 7 I end up taking them off so as not to break the eardrums of my interlocutors.
I have to say, this is something I talked about with the Jabra rep at the IFA 2022 tech event in Berlin. She herself was able to say that the microphones and the detection of wind and external noise such as wind had been improved in her latest model of listenersthem Elite 5.
They don’t belong to Jabra’s Active family for athletes, but they’re still very nice True Wireless headphones that promise improvements over previous models. We’re dying to try them out and tell you if they were really successful or not.
Important data: battery, connectivity and other tools
A very important fact for many when we go to choose new headphones is that of battery life. Ultimately, we don’t want to have to be aware of charging the device every two times three.
In this case, Jabra still complies by offering up to 30 hours of autonomy (including the charging box, yes). The battery life of each earbud without the charging case is approximately 8 hours.
I must admit that I have never run out of battery with the Elite 7. Although it is also true that I often charge them frequently to prevent this from happening.
The charging case can be charged with a USB-C cable (it’s included in the box) or, also, with wireless charging if you have one. wireless charger.
It might go without saying that the kind of connectivity you’ll need is Bluetooth, which is pretty obvious on this type of headset (and pretty much any headset these days, for that matter).
However, I can say that pairing the Elite 7 with my smartphone It was ultra-simple and each time I put the earphones in my ear, pairing is done automatically, something that ultimately turns out to be very practical on a daily basis.
Price and availability
Jabra’s Elite 7 headphones went on sale for $179.99. However, we now see that on the official website of Jabra Europe are offered for $129.99, which represents a considerable discount.
You can buy them at Amazon Europe for $129.99 also, or in other technology stores present in Europe such as media market oh The Corte Ingles.
They are expensive? In isolation, if we think of $130, it will seem like a lot of money to many. However, you must consider the usual cost of this type of product.
If we take a look at our list of best true wireless headphones of the market, we will see that indeed the price of 129.99$ is rather good compared to other models of big brands like Sony or Apple.
Veredcito
The Jabra Elite 7 Active are great headphones that every athlete should consider as a purchase option. After testing them for weeks, I can confirm that they are comfortable to wear and fit your ear perfectly without threatening to pop out at any time (not even during cardio sessions).
In addition, they offer an elegant, compact and durable design thanks to their IP57 sealing.
The sound quality is incredible with defined treble and vocals and consistent bass. It also integrates ANC noise cancellation technologies very well, as well as Hear Through to be able to listen to ambient sound if you wish.
It has good battery life, with wireless charging, which is important in a device designed to be used for hours (you’ll get up to 30 hours of battery with the case).
In conclusion I can affirm that it is a very complete device of a quality prime excellent in almost all areas. It may be missing calls, but otherwise the Jabra Elite 7 is a listeners True Wireless highly recommended.
