A few months ago, I discovered Marsback, a brand specializing in gaming products that managed to surprise me. I got to test their M1 mechanical keyboard and liked it so much that I’m still using it today as of this writing.
So when I had the opportunity to try out their new RGB mouse, the Zephyr Pro, I didn’t hesitate. I was struck by its rather peculiar design and also by the integrated fan which aims to prevent your hand from sweating while you use it for hours and hours.
If you want to know more about this mouse Game so original, keep reading. I tell you everything you need to know before you buy it.
Note: You can buy the mouse for 42 $ with the code ‘pcwonly’.
Design and build quality
Let’s start with the exterior, that is, the design and build quality of the mouse. It comes perfectly packaged in a rectangular box which in itself is quite original. Before opening the box, you already feel that you are in front of a quality product thanks to the care taken in its packaging.
The model I tried is white, although if you want you can buy it in black as well. The truth is, the white model combines perfectly with my RGB keyboard, which is also white.
The kind of mosaic with holes that allow you to see the inside of the mouse is immediately striking. This, in addition to giving a super original touch to the aesthetics of the device, is what allows the fan to keep your hand safe from sweat at all times.
The mouse adapts perfectly to the shape of my hand, making it comfortable at all times. In addition, it is ultralight since it weighs only 69 grams.
On the left side you have two buttons to which you can assign different functions, we explain in more detail in the software section.
You can choose what you want the lights to look like. Just turn the mouse to see a button that says ‘light’ and another that says ‘fan’. The ‘light’ button will allow you to change this configuration of lights: whether they change color continuously, whether a single color is maintained or whether they go out.
However, the βfanβ button only allows you to turn the fan on or off. It would have been really cool to be able to control the fan power to change it to your preference.
The lights are visualized through the holes that allow you to see the inside of the mouse, as well as the wheel and, if you turn it, you will see a line running through the entire device that also lights up making it appear that the light comes from below.
The ‘fan’ button allows you to control the fan. However, in order to be able to make a much tighter configuration, it is better to use the software.
The built-in fan is undoubtedly the main point of this mouse. However, I can be somewhat disappointed here as I was hoping I could feel it a lot stronger in my hand. I’m not going to lie, it’s nice to feel that little breeze, but when I say “small” I mean it’s very light.
Regarding the material, we find the same material that is used to make any mouse: plastic. However, the product is not considered a cheap device, otherwise the opposite.
Performance, software and tools
Now that I’ve covered the design, the most important thing is how well the Zephyr Pro performs.
In a desktop mouse, the most essential part is the sensor, as its quality will determine the performance of the device. In this case, it is a Pixart 3389 sensor, an optical sensor with a CPI of 16,000, an IPS of 450 and an acceleration of 50 g.
The truth is that today, if you buy a high-end mouse, it is very likely that it has a Pixart sensor. This company is the one that supplies the sensors to device brands as a rule. If your mouse doesn’t have a Pixart sensor, it’s most likely a low-end or mid-range.
When we talk about CPI (counts per inch) we are referring to the number of steps the mouse takes as it walks an inch. This means that a 16,000 CPI manages to move 16,000 pixels on the screen for every inch the mouse moves.
Be a mouse GameInterestingly, the amount of CPI is good because it has to do with the amount of movement you have to perform with the mouse to make the cursor move a certain distance. Obviously, your game will be much more accurate if you have to put less effort into moving the mouse.
On the other hand, the IPS (inch per second or inches per second), tells us the maximum speed at which the sensor can follow the movement with precision. Keep in mind that a gaming mouse averages 300 IPS, which means the Zephyr Pro’s 450s are a pretty good amount.
Regarding acceleration, it tells us how fast it goes from zero to maximum speed. The best gaming mice of the moment have an acceleration of 50 g, as is the case with this model, further proof that we are dealing with a quality device.
All this in practice gives good results. I was able to verify that the Zephyr Pro is an efficient, precise and quite versatile mouse. It works just as well for playing video games (its main function) as it does for professional use.
In addition, despite a built-in fan, it does not make any noise. The spec list says a maximum of 30 decibels, but the truth is, I detected absolutely no noise when using the mouse.
It should be mentioned that this is a durable mouse, its hardware is designed to last up to 50 million clicks. This data may seem somewhat abstract because how many clicks do we give on average per year?
The ontechplay site tells us that in one year, we make an average of 2.9 million clicks, which means that the mouse would last you on average 17 years, obviously, depending on how you use it.
Finally, let’s talk about Software. If you wish, you can install a program that will allow you to configure the use of the side mouse buttons, as well as the colors.
As you can see in the picture, you can create different profiles which will be saved in memory and which you can choose whenever you want. You also have various options to configure the pace and change of colors, as well as the speed of click and mouse movement.
You don’t need to install this program if you don’t want to. I was able to start using the mouse without installing anything in a way as easy as connecting the USB cable to the computer. I was also able to configure the mouse speed with the settings of the computer itself.
Pricing and availability
The Zephyr Pro mouse can currently be bought at a very attractive discount, instead of 84.35 $ you can buy it for 50.27 $. The offer will be available for an additional 9 days, so if you are interested in the product, now is the best time to purchase it.
However, if you use the code ‘pcwonly’ you can buy the mouse for 42 $.
Verdict
The Zephyr Pro mouse offers excellent value for money, especially with the discount it offers. There are high-end specifications that are also found in other models of much more expensive gaming mice.
On the other hand, it has an original and striking design, halfway between a classic mouse and a gaming mouse that will surely adapt very well to different tastes. It incorporates a fan that will keep your hand cool for hours, although it is true that the fan disappoints due to its lack of power.
If you are going to buy this mouse for the fan, it is not worth it. But if you don’t mind that it isn’t as powerful as you expect, you’re still picking up a high-performance device, with great precision and speeds, and a premium design that takes care of the details.
