According to a Bloomberg report, Meta could launch a new pair of smart glasses with Oakley later this year.
The glasses, which will have the working name “Supernova 2,” are said to be based on Oakley's Sphaera model (pictured above).
Instead of placing the camera on the side, as Meta's first smart glasses did with Ray-Ban, the Supernova 2 would have the camera in the center of the frame, at nose bone level.
Otherwise, the glasses should have similar characteristics to the Ray-Ban model. Meta and Oakley hope the new smart glasses will appeal to cyclists and other athletes.
It is worth mentioning that Oakley and Ray-Ban are owned by eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica.
Samsung has just announced the Project Moonah in the flesh as the first Android XR headset.
