Jen-Hsun Huang’s company (NVIDIA) has established itself as the most profitable in 2023, with the highest growth and profits ever seen, and with a very promising year 2024 for it, however, its competitor wants to put the pressure on her.
Intel attacks NVIDIA
It seems Intel doesn’t want to be left behind. This year hasn’t been particularly good for them, but they don’t want to lose the tail of NVIDIA and now the company’s CEO himself is attacking them hard. His words refer to CUDA technology of the competition, which, according to him, does not have a bright future and that, therefore, its success “will not be eternal”. For now, the data says otherwise, but we’ll have to see.
All this was collected at an event in New York, where he presented the new data center chips. 5th generation Intel Core Ultra and Xeonfocused towards Artificial intelligencea very promising sec tor for this coming year 2024, and in which whoever positions themselves first has the most to gain, and we are not talking about little money.
His remarks also reference other companies, suggesting that they are all motivated to eliminate the CUDA market, such as MLIR, Google and OpenAI.
Seizing the opportunity, Pat Gelsinger presented OpenVINOthe standard in which Intel has gathered all its efforts in AI and with which it hopes to surpass, or at least get closer to, NVIDIA in this sector.
Reading a little of the statements of the CEO of Intel and watching his conference, I personally believe that yes, Intel has quite a few things prepared under the table for 2024, concerning AI, but just like Meta or Google. I haven’t seen a revolution in their promises and the only thing I think is that they want to scare NVIDIA, which, it seems to me, is very calm at the moment, setting all-time highs in stock market and with a similar projection for the coming quarters.
In any case, competition is good, especially for the users who are behind everything, so we will see how everything ends and what each can offer us in the coming months. We will be attentive to any news and we will see who becomes king.
And you what do you think ? Is Intel and CUDA technology right, while NVIDIA’s days are numbered? Or will she continue to be the queen of 2024, silent but showcasing the best products on the market? According to Pat Gelsinger, his days are numbered: does he know something we don’t? This sector has a lot of potential, and it seems to me that we won’t just see these companies fighting for it. Maybe another, smaller one will surprise us, as happened with ChatGPT.
