First of all, you should know that DLSS and FSR work on the same principle: render the game in low resolution and scale it to a higher resolution. For example, the game can be rendered at 720p resolution and scaled to 1080p resolution.
But the two technologies have a huge difference. NVIDIA DLSS requires Tensor Core, specific cores for artificial intelligence. AMD FSR doesn’t require it, it does it brute force and theoretically with little impact on the graphics card.

NVIDIA DLSS It should be remembered that it was born as a complementary technology to Ray Tracing. He laser trace
The developers have seen that this technology is brutal and they implement it independently. Death Stranding, for example, doesn’t support ray tracing, but it does have DLSS built in. And the truth is, like this, many other games have it built in, over 300 games support DLSS.
Diablo IV who just came out is compatible con DLSS 3 and DLSS 2, as well as with DLAA and Reflex. Ratchet and Clank: Time Jump will also support will also support DLSS 3 and DLSS 2.
Additionally, it was announced that Haunted House, Haunted House Remastered: Prologue, Wild Hearts, Crouching Dragon: Skyfall, and The Elder Scrolls Online: Nocromancer will soon receive DLSS 2.
We can check the official NVIDIA list as of June 7, 2023, the list adds 305 games and applications compatible with DLSS 2. In addition, of all these, a total of 37 are already compatible with DLSS 3. It is also interesting the number that no less than 208 games and applications are compatible with Ray Tracing.
AMD FSR, a second best?
We must point out that AMD graphics cards do not have cores dedicated to this technology. There are no Tensor Cores on Radeon GPUs, so it cannot be supported on specific cores. What it does is render the game in a lower resolution and scale it in software.
This means lower image quality than its competitor. The graphics card cannot allocate resources to this task either (or not a lot so as not to impact performance) so its capacities are limited.
According to AMD, FSR is currently present in 266 games, among which Cyberpunk 2077, Gotham Knights or Red Dead Redemption 2 stand out. The company points out that at least 97 games support FSR 2.0 or higher versions.
But without a doubt, AMD’s great failure is always the same: marketing. Nvidia sells its technologies very well (good or not), even if they are very heavy. They always add that this monitor has G-Sync, this game has DLSS, Ray Tracing, Reflex or whatever.
It is not normal for AMD to highlight these aspects in its drivers. Usually they say they support this or that game and nothing else. The best example would be Cyberpunk 2077. We all know it has Ray Tracing and DLSS, but did you know it also supports FSR?
