Three factors determine which GPUs to use for mining: their MH / s ratios, power consumption, and efficiency ratio. Mh / s / W which represent the two values. Additionally, when cryptocurrencies fall to very low values, the return on investment costs becomes trickier, so the price of each card must also be included in the equation, even if we don’t. are not at this stage yet. So, are the new HX series GPUs for mining really praised over RTX games?

As we are well aware, up to four NVIDIA variants will be released exclusively for the mining market: 30HX, 40HX, 50HX and the more powerful 90HX. These GPUs range from 125 watts of TDP to 320 watts and as we now know they will be based on the Turing architecture and eventually go up to 12nm like their older RTX versions.
Therefore, it seems difficult for a Turing card to compete with an Ampere due to the latter’s architecture and node enhancements, but how is that true when we compare performance on paper?
As we can see, by sheer power the new RTX 3080 and in particular the RTX 3090 manage to approve a lot of percentage difference between Hash and the 90HX, while in efficiency things don’t improve. But if there is something that should concern NVIDIA it is precisely the RTX 3070, since it achieves an efficiency of 0.53, which and knowing that it consumes 117 watts on average, leads it to almost double the efficiency compared to 90 HX.
The RTX 3060 Ti is the most wanted option, is NVIDIA becoming the competition?

30HX | Chop26 MH / s | TDP125 watts | Eficiencia MH / s / W0.21 |
If there is one GPU that stands out and that everyone is looking for, it is precisely the RTX 3060 Ti. With 60 MH / s, 120 watts and an efficiency of 0.50, coupled with a more contained price, they currently do not allow NVIDIA to compete with itself.
The 90HX achieves a ratio of 0.27 and even though it was priced lower than the RTX 3060 Ti it could not exceed the values of the Amp card. So does it make sense to launch this new CMP series with its corresponding HX GPUs? It is difficult to answer this question.
NVIDIA will not be able to limit the performance of GPUs that are already in the hands of miners, mainly because it no longer controls that hardware and on the other hand, even if it locks down software to reduce performance, miners would not. that must revert to a version to work around the limitation.
In other words, the GPUs sold can no longer be limited, but this is only part of the total movement, because although this battle is lost, NVIDIA is gradually withdrawing all models from the market to replace them with new ones. GPUs that implement limitations at the hardware or software level, like the new RTX 3060.
Of course, pricing for the new HXs remains to be seen which will be decisive in the market as well, although if the Greens don’t cap the performance somehow of the current RTXs it will be of little value. that the NVIDIA HX comes at a demolition price, rather than decongesting the market with the new RTX models.
