In recent years, TSMC has become one of the most influential companies in the world, and the Taiwanese brand has some of the most advanced technologies in chip manufacturing and packaging, which has led them to dominate a large part of the market. For this reason, many companies have tried to establish a series of relationships with TSMC to ensure a large number of tokens, but NVIDIA I wanted to go further and have my own double of production.
When we talk about companies that dominate the computer sector, it is clear that we must mention NVIDIA, a company recognized for creating really powerful components, but that has also implemented a series of practices not appreciated by users. Today, the latest step that the company has tried to take is to try to obtain an exclusive production line with TSMC, something that the Taiwanese company, as we can imagine, has rejected from the beginning.
NVIDIA wants to ensure its production at all costs
One of the big problems that companies like NVIDIA are facing lately is the high demand for all the products they develop, and even more so with the rise of artificial intelligence, which has completely changed the way companies do things. This has led many such companies to try to achieve as much chip production and packaging as possible, and it is clear that many times they cannot do it themselves because they do not have certain technologies.
This apparently led the CEO of that company to start conversations with TSMC representatives, trying to secure a single production line related to the packaging of its chips to meet the high demand they have. But as one can imagine, TSMC is a company that does not want to focus solely on one type of development, and trying to establish a single production could result in a rather large loss in the long run.
NVIDIA’s practices are not very convincing, negotiations are unsuccessful
NVIDIA CEO’s request to TSMC to establish a dedicated CoWoS packaging line came to nothing, and the Taiwanese company was apparently not very convinced about how it could benefit them in the long run. According to Taiwanese press, the conversations between Huang and TSMC executives were quite tense, leading representatives of the Taiwanese company to ask a series of questions to the CEO of NVIDIA about what the request would be, without being satisfied with the answers, which created an even more tense atmosphere than at the beginning.
This is ultimately due to the high demand for its products. TSMC, and they have reserved all their packaging capacity for NVIDIA and his rival, AMD, which implies that a single production line for RTX GPUs and other products would practically leave AMD out of the plans. This is not new, and we know the practices of this brand, and ultimately, trying to eliminate its main competitor from the market is a goal it has been trying to achieve for a long time.
