OneOdio continually announces new models of Bluetooth headphones and different audio devices, providing the opportunity to give you a very wide range of options to choose from.
Just visit their website to see the full range of audio devices available. You will also notice right away that OneOdio offers fairly affordable prices on all of its products.
In this case, I had the opportunity to test the SuperEQ S1 model in white. The first thing to consider when determining whether it is worth it or not is its price: the ANC headphones at 49.99 $, that is, it is a model mid-range.
This means that, in this case, the quality is not as brilliant as that of much more expensive high-end models, but, if you are looking for headphones that are not too expensive and offer decent quality, the Super EQ S1 could be the helmet you are looking for.
I tell you more about my experience with them.
Quality design and construction
My first impression out of the box maybe disappointed me a bit. I tried other models of OneOdio headphones, such as the A30, and I immediately noted the good quality of their finish.
With this, I don’t mean to say that the SuperEQ S1 offers a bad design, on the contrary, I like the faux leather material, the combination of white and red, the padding of its headband that makes it comfortable when you wear it. and above all, the way the headphones pick up my ears isolating me from outside noise.
However, and this may be due to the color white, the plastic feel is overly appreciated, especially in the physical buttons which will allow you to perform various actions such as raising or lowering the volume or activating the ANC.
On the other hand, I like the metallic gray finish with the model’s logo in the center, they add design quality making them a bit more expensive than they really are.
A point in favor of the design of the Super EQ is that it can be folded, which not all headphones do, and something also that allows you to be able to transport them from place to place in a much more comfortable way. .
It also adds the ability to be able to adjust the headband making it bigger if you slide it around to adjust it to your head size.
When you wear them, the helmets feel secure with a little bit of pressure. It bothered me at first, but I quickly got used to wearing them.
The design is quite ergonomic, I have used them for long working days (I am wearing them as I write this article) and I can assure you that they are not heavy or uncomfortable.
The box in which the headphones come is quite complete: it also includes a micro-usb cable, an AUX cable (yes you can connect them with 3.5mm), the instruction manual, an adapter for airplanes and a faux leather case in the one to be able to carry the headphones.
SuperEQs are available in black and white. I have to say that I tend to always go for black when it comes to tech devices, but it’s also true that I think this white finish works better for my Mac. If you are a user of Apple products, you will surely end up going for the white model.
Of course, keep in mind that it will get dirty much more easily. In fact, just wearing them once left makeup smudges on the large pads. Still, it was easy to clean them to make them look like new again.
The design is young, fun, and attractive. It is an eye-catching device that is seen as modern and current. The only point that remains in terms of design and finish is the excess plastic of the physical buttons, as explained above.
All controls and ports are located on the right hull. Here you will find the micro USB charging input, the 3.5mm headphone input, the button to activate and deactivate the ANC then, three buttons together that allow you to skip songs, pause, turn off , turn on or control the volume.
Sound quality and performance
The sound quality is not great, but it is still good. If I had to highlight anything in particular it would be how well the headphone design insulates against external noise.
However, I have to admit that I hardly notice a difference when turning the ANC active noise cancellation on or off. Having the option to turn external noise on and off is also isolated, which makes me think that the noise cancellation offered by these headphones is more passive than active.
We remind that active noise cancellation is what is achieved through the physical design of the device, in this case the way the electrodes pick up your ear. Active noise cancellation (ANC) uses specific technology to transform background noise into silence.
Normally headphones with ANC tend to cost a lot more, so it’s surprising to see a $ 50 model with this kind of technology (although it’s not as good as you might expect. a high-end model).
If I continue to analyze the sound, I keep noticing that it is not as crisp and crisp as I would like. For some reason the sound shines a lot brighter if you turn off ANC. When this option is enabled, there is a kind of hum that blurs the quality of the audio.
The bass, on the other hand, is quite solid and punchy thanks to the 40mm neodymium drivers. They are ideal for listening to styles of music that emphasize bass, such as reggaeton
The more melodic styles of music shine a bit, but, once again, we remember that they only manage to shine when the ANC is turned off. The vocals are a bit hazy, if you turn up the volume almost to maximum distortion is present.
I tested the headphones to make phone calls and the quality is pretty good. I was able to listen to my interlocutor without problem and he was able to listen to me in good quality. This device has dedicated microphones capable of picking up your voice.
In summary in this section, I would say that it is better to turn off the ANC if you want to listen to quality sound and the noise cancellation feature has more to do with the design of the headphones than with the technology. ANC itself.
Connectivity and battery
In terms of battery, SuperEQs win. In fact, you could say that, next to its design, this is the most notable feature of these mid-range headphones.
We are facing 40 hours of playtime if you have ANC and Bluetooth active. However, if you only use the Bluetooth headphones and turn off the ANC, it can last up to 45 hours. And if you use the 3.5mm cable and turn on ANC, they will last up to 50 hours.
This means that you can forget to charge your headphones for several days. When you need to charge them, the charging is also quite fast compared to other models. They take about two hours to fully charge.
On the right helmet there is a small dot that lights up to indicate different functions. When it turns red and flashes, it means that you are running out of battery. Beyond that little LED, there’s no other way to know what battery you have.
When it comes to connectivity, you can use bluetooth to connect the headsets to any bluetooth device. In this case, it uses the current version Bluetooth 5.0. However, it’s surprising to see that it still uses a micro USB input for charging instead of the more current USB-C like most newer devices.
Many and many will see the option of being able to use a 3.5mm cable as a point very much in favor of these headphones. As you know, this kind of connectivity has gradually disappeared from any new device, which many users continue to miss.
In my case, I was unable to use the AUX cable because none of my current devices have this type of input. However, it’s a detail that OneOdio includes the cable in the purchase box in case you need it.
Pricing and availability
The SuperEQ S1 headphones can be purchased from the official OneOdio website for $ 49.99. In addition to white, they are also available in black for the same price.
If you enter the OneOdio website, you will see a window appear arise in which you are told that you could win a special prize if you participate. If you enter your name and email, it is very likely that you can take another discount code so that your headphones cost you even less.
Verdict
An attractive design that is comfortable to use for hours on end, excellent battery life and a fairly cheap price compared to similar models from other brands. These are the three points in favor of the SuperEQ S1 helmet.
Now their price requires some sacrifice, that is, they are not perfect. Don’t expect the best sound quality or the most accurate and efficient ANC noise cancellation technology.
However, if you are not a very demanding user and are looking for an inexpensive model of headphones that you can carry from one place to another to enjoy your favorite music anywhere, this could be the model that you are looking for. you are looking for.
I also recommend that you visit the OneOdio website so that you can browse through all of the bluetooth headset options they offer in case another model is closer to your needs.
