OnePlus has been busy creating a variety of phones in 2022, with phones available for different kinds of budgets. To continue this trend, the company is reportedly set to launch a successor to its popular OnePlus Nord N10 5G which debuted in November 2020.
We’ve rounded up all the latest news and rumors about the upcoming device, so you know what to expect when it arrives. This is our guide to the OnePlus Nord N20 5G.
When will the OnePlus Nord N20 be released?
OnePlus hasn’t said anything official yet about when we should expect the Nord N20. Previously, there were many rumors pointing to a February release, but that obviously never materialized.
In its place, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G has been announced, with its world premiere taking place on March 11, 2022, with the OnePlus 10 Pro slated for the same month.
This prompted various rumor sites to revise their predictions, and now the common consensus seems to be that OnePlus will unveil the Nord N20 5G on May 11, 2022. We don’t know how realistic that is. So for now, we’ll keep digging for more details until we can find out the actual date.
A clue could be that another planned device, the OnePlus Nord 2T, is expected to land in the April/May period. Could it be that OnePlus took the opportunity to launch the two new models at the same time?
How much will the OnePlus Nord N20 5G cost?
Again, we don’t have much to do in terms of price. The only real clue is the previous Nord N10 5G model, which launched at $349. Throughout its life those numbers have been reduced by OnePlus, but it’s entirely possible that the new Nord N20 5G will start at a similar price.
To put it into context, here’s how OnePlus’ other affordable devices line up:
- OnePlus Nord N100: $199 (₹18,165)
- OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G: $349 (₹24,999)
- OnePlus Nord 2 5G: $399 (₹29,999)
What specs and features will we see in the OnePlus Nord N20 5G?
With OnePlus keeping quiet about the Nord N20 5G, there are no confirmed details on specs and features, but we’ve seen plenty of leaks that give us a good idea of what the phone can pack.
One partnership that has been helpful in recent months is that of OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, which have teamed up to reveal several never-before-seen device specifications. They both returned there recently, with a fairly comprehensive breakdown of the components that will appear on the Nord N20 5G.
Design
From the leaked renders we’ve seen, provided by OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, the Nord N20 5G will feature a square-edged design, similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G which also recently launched.
Both of course carry over some of that aesthetic from the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 range that reintroduced the sharper lines that now seem to be back in fashion.
91Mobiles reports that the dimensions are around 158.8mm x 73.1mm x 7.7mm, making it a fairly compact but large device. There’s a single speaker on the bottom edge, which also houses the USB-C charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. As in other recent OnePlus devices, the classic slider button to mute is gone. Sad.
Processor
Several reports have claimed that the OnePlus Nord N20 5G will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. This is the same low mid-range chip used by recent devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, Realme 9 Pro, Vivo T1 5G, the Moto G71 and the Poco X4 Pro.
Most reports also claim that the processor will be assisted by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, the latter expandable by an additional 512GB via a microSD card.
Screen
Another element that has been widely reported is the display, which is expected to be a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 and 409ppi. The 16 MP front camera will be housed in a punch-hole, while an under-screen fingerprint sensor has also been included.
cameras
The Nord N20 5G is believed to pack three cameras, consisting of a 48MP primary camera, assisted by 2MP macro and 2MP mono/depth lenses.
That’s fairly common in 2022, although like most of its contemporaries it’s a single camera with a few additional sensors rather than a true three-camera array.
Connectivity and battery
Apart from the branded features, you should also find 5G support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and dual SIM capabilities on the Nord N20 5G. A 4,500mAh battery will keep everything powered up, which can be quickly topped up via 30W fast charging support.
Obviously, until OnePlus announces the Nord N20 5G, this data remains speculative, although the detailed report makes us confident that this could be what we will find in the final product.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait long to find out. In the meantime, be sure to check out our guides to the best OnePlus phones and the best cheap Chinese phones to see what other options exist.
