OnePlus has been busy with numerous launch events in recent months, but the next one is just around the corner.
The company has confirmed a “summer launch event” for July 16 in Milan, promising a “flagship piece that breaks all conventions.” Its official website page doesn’t reveal much, but recent posts on X (formerly Twitter) all but confirm a new Nord phone.
Basically, it just means that the phone is made from a single piece of metal that’s shaped around the entire back and sides of the phone. This was common on early smartphones like HTC’s One series, which was discontinued in 2016.
A physical invitation to the event sent out by OnePlus includes the following statement: “Some say it’s impossible in the 5G era to build a smartphone with the strength, sophistication, and durable quality of metal. We say… Never settle for less.”
All three of the features the company has outlined could be key selling points for the Nord 4, especially since it’s still expected to be a mid-range phone. As a reminder, the OnePlus Nord 3 cost £499/$499 at launch.
OnePlus hasn’t revealed anything concrete about the phone yet, although the above post indicates we’ll hear more on July 9.
However, a post by leaker Sanju Choudhary on X reveals many key specifications, along with a two-tone rear design:
If true, it would mean that the Nord 4 is not the same phone as the Ace 3V, which launched in China in March.
We’re hoping this will be revealed on July 9th. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait for the July 16th launch, which we’ll cover here on Tech Advisor.
