Samsung may have only recently pulled the covers off its latest flagship phones, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t already hard at work on their successors.
We take a look at the latest news and rumors on what you should expect when the Samsung Galaxy S25 lineup arrives.
When will the Samsung Galaxy S25 be released?
There’s no official release date at the time of writing, but Samsung is quite consistent with Galaxy phone launches, so we can make an educated guess.
Here’s when previous models arrived:
- Samsung Galaxy S24 – January 2024
- Samsung Galaxy S24+ – January 2024
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – January 2024
- Samsung Galaxy S23 – February 2023
- Samsung Galaxy S23+ – February 2023
- Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – February 2023
- Samsung Galaxy S22 – February 2022
- Samsung Galaxy S22+ – February 2022
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra – February 2022
As you can see, new Galaxy devices usually debut at the beginning of the year. Note that the S24 range was actually released on January 31, so it was almost a February release.
With that in mind, we think it’s safe to say that the Galaxy S25 lineup will launch in January or February 2025.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy S25 cost?
Samsung seems to have an established cost range these days, so while we don’t know how the Galaxy S25 lineup will line up, we don’t expect it to stray too far from the previous generation.
The S23 range saw some price increases, but these were reduced in the S24 range, and it makes sense that these levels would be retained for the S25 models.

What new features will we see in the Samsung Galaxy S25?
Samsung has yet to reveal anything about the Galaxy S25 lineup at this point. However, there are already rumors about what we can expect.
New processor
With the Galaxy S line being Samsung’s flagship, we expect the S25 models arriving in North America and Asia to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, which is expected to launch by the end of 2024.
However, the company could repeat what it did on the S24 line, with standard and Plus models using one of Samsung’s own Exynos chips instead. By the time the S25 series launches, it will likely be the successor to the current Exynos 2400 and likely known as the Exynos 2500.
To help differentiate the Ultra, it could continue to use Snapdragon in all markets. On both chips, expect performance improvements as well as better power efficiency, the latter generally leading to better battery life.
New camera sensor
A report from a tech blogger @Tech_Reve post X (formerly Twitter) suggested that Samsung would move away from the GN3 camera sensors found in the Galaxy S24 lineup.
Instead, they will apparently switch to upgraded Sony sensors for the Galaxy S25 devices. It doesn’t specify the particular variant, but Sony has a long history of making excellent camera sensors, which could mark an improvement in photo and video quality on the new device.
An exception to Sony’s sensors, says @Tech_Reve, will be the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which will come with Samsung’s own line of ISOCELL sensors.
Another online journalist, @BennettBuhner has released a list of rumored specs for the S25 Ultra camera lineup, which it says will be a quad setup including a 1-inch 200MP main sensor, an upgraded 50MP ultra-wide, a 3x variable phone camera at 5x 50Mp and a 10x 50Mp telephoto lens.
There’s also the possibility of a new depth sensor, making the already excellent cameras even better.
New design
Along with its leaks around the camera sensor, @Tech_Reve also announced that the S25 range could feature an updated design. This would come via MX division design team leader Ilwhan Lee (formerly of Mercedes Benz), who would have been tasked with overhauling the aesthetics of the new models.
We don’t have specific details on what these changes might entail, but we hope it won’t be too long before we start seeing potential case and chassis leaks from parts of the supply chain.
That’s all we’ve found so far, but we’ll continue to update this article with any new information that emerges. Don’t forget to also check out our guides to the best smartphones to see what else is out there.
