Samsung officially revealed its Galaxy S25 lineup of flagship phones, but it was missing one expected model: the S25 Slim.
As expected, the first big Unpacked launch event of the year revealed the S25 series, but the widely rumored Galaxy S25 Slim was not shown.
This seems strange for several reasons. The first is that rumors in the smartphone world are generally not false. Second, Samsung's teaser invitation for Unpacked showed the corners of four handsets meeting, suggesting that four models would be announced.
An unveiling would have meant Samsung out ahead of Apple, whose own slim flagship – the iPhone 17 Air – is expected to arrive this year.
What is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
Still, as we suspected, Samsung did a little “one more thing” teaser at the very end of the Unpacked event, like it did with the Galaxy Ring a year ago.
So while it seems like only three S25 models have been revealed, Samsung simply held off on the fourth until we thought it was all over.
Instead, we got a quick look but no discussion of the Galaxy S25 Edge. This could be the S25 Slim under a different brand name, although it only has two rear cameras, compared to the rumored three.
It appears to have a similarly slim profile, but resurrecting the “Edge” branding on older phones, including 2016's Galaxy S7 Edge, is confusing because those models were distinguished by the curved screens on their sides.
Will Samsung still launch the Galaxy S25 Slim?
Just because the Galaxy S25 Slim didn't make an appearance at Unpacked doesn't mean it won't ever happen.
As mentioned above, it looks like it could have simply been renamed Galaxy S25 Edge instead. This looks similar to the Slim leaks, although Samsung only showed a very brief glimpse at the end of the presentation.
It's clear that the S25 Edge will arrive later because Samsung didn't even say a word about it on stage, simply ending Unpacked with the short Edge video.
After all, FE “fan edition” models always arrive several months later, so this one might as well. We wouldn't be too upset if it replaced the struggling FE line.

I think it's possible that Samsung decided not to go with the “Slim” branding because it's just not thin enough compared to other S25 models.
The S25 measures just 7.2mm, while the S25+ and S25 Ultra measure 7.3mm and 8.2mm, respectively.
The S25 Slim (or maybe the S25 Edge now) is rumored to measure around 6.4mm, so is that really enough to justify the name?
Details from a Phone Arena exclusive may well support the idea that the Slim could be the Edge. According to the article, the Slim may never arrive in the United States, following news that it could be delayed until May. The article still lists 39 markets it will launch in, including the UK.
We will of course keep you updated when we learn more about the Galaxy S25 Edge.
