Segway, the company best known for its now discontinued two-wheeled personal transporter, is today launching its award-winning smart robotic mower, the Navimow, in the UK.
The Navimow went on sale in 12 European countries last year and finally made it across the English Channel. As of now, it’s unclear if or when the company is planning a US launch.
There are four different models in the Navimow series, with prices ranging from £1,299 to £2,299, depending on the size of the lithium-ion battery and therefore its recommended cutting area, which starts at 500m.2 and climbs up to 3000m2.
To be clear, the Navimow is not a ride-on device. It’s b asically a robot vacuum for your garden, except it mows the lawn instead of vacuuming the ground. But while robot vacuums have become relatively common in the UK, robot mowers are still quite rare.
Unlike some competitors, the Navimow does not require users to install physical boundary cords or strips. Instead, virtual boundaries are set through the accompanying app.
Once the application, available for Apple and Android, has been downloaded and the robot is paired, the user creates a map and delimits the limits. Segway estimates that the whole setup process will take 20-30 minutes.
Once ready to go, the user can set mowing schedules, remotely operate the Navimow and check their progress via the app. It is also possible to fine-tune the mowing process, by fine-tuning the height of the cutting blade for a grass length between 30 and 60 mm.
The Navimow navigates via GPS using what Segway calls its Exact Fusion Locating System (EFLS), which also allows it to identify and avoid obstacles like flower pots. It will follow a precise mowing path which should allow for a healthy lawn.
It’s got some other great features too, like the anti-theft alarm you can set remotely, its IPX6 waterproof rating so you can just hose it down to clean it, and its best-in-class 54dB quiet operation. industry.

Segway Navimow BU CEO George Ren said, “Navimow’s advanced understanding of its environment and its ability to adapt to unexpected scenarios makes the user’s life as easy as possible, as it barely lifts little finger to get the perfect lawn.
And, if the thought of letting a robot equipped with a blade loose in your garden makes you cringe, its safety measures include the BladeHalt, which will stop the mower when a sensor is triggered, and its object detection. in motion, which will help him avoid any small animals unfortunate enough to cross his path.
If your garden layout is more complicated or you have poor satellite reception, you may need the VisionFence sensor as an add-on. It has a dedicated AI chip and a visual recognition algorithm that will increase the robot’s ability to navigate and detect and avoid obstacles. It’s a pricey accessory, at £269.99, but there’s a garden checklist you’ll be offered before you buy that will let you know if you need it.
Buy before the end of May and you can get the VisionFence sensor for the reduced price of £169.99.
The Navimow is available for purchase now on the Segway Navimow website, where you can find a full list of local dealerships.
