LG announced an update to the Styler at CES. The steam room, which was first launched as a niche product in Seoul in 2011 and has gone through several iterations since, is now an available and popular device around the world. 2024 upgrades add additional features that bring it closer to universal utility.
If you’re not familiar with what the Styler does, it’s a smart wardrobe with hangers for a number of clothes, a shelf for laundry, toys and more, and an in-door trouser press . Clothes hung inside are steamed and agitated to remove particle pollution and wrinkles, while being deodorized and disinfected in the process.
When we reviewed the Styler, our main reservation was that it couldn’t entirely replace any step of laundry or clothing care. You will still need to wash stained clothes and remove the iron if there are significant creases and wrinkles. It’s essentially a supplement to your home laundry system, designed to freshen clothes and give you more time between visits to the dry cleaner. But it has specialized cleaning settings for different types of fabrics, to better care for hard-to-wash items like velvet, leather, and silk.
If that feature set wasn’t enough to tempt you, its new feature might just do it.

When will the new LG Styler be launched?
LG has not yet confirmed when the Styler will be available for purchase, either in the US or Europe.
How much will the LG Styler cost?
Pricing is another unknown, although it will likely cost more than the models currently available.
At this point, you can buy a three-rack model with a white door for $1,499 in the US, although it’s now on sale for $1,099 if you buy directly from LG. A model with a brown door is available at Costco, but you’ll need to log in with your membership details to see the price.
A more expensive model with a mirrored door is on sale from LG for $1,299, up from $1,699.
In the UK, the best price we’ve found for the three-hanger model with black door is £1,399 at Costco. But it’s also available for £1,599 from AO, Boots Kitchen Appliances and Amazon. The white door model is in stock at Currys at the same price.
What’s new with the Styler?
The big upgrade – and one that could be a game changer – is the addition of a portable pressure steamer. This should remove all but the deepest creases from thicker fabrics, meaning you’ll rarely need to resort to an iron.

The overall care taken in hanging clothes has also been improved, with the shaking process improved, thanks to what LG calls the Dynamic Moving Hanger system. Instead of simply shaking clothes from side to side to dislodge particles, hangers now also twist, for greater efficiency.
These hardware upgrades led to more software options, allowing LG to create new cleaning programs, including the Fine Dust Cycle, to remove fine particles from clothing. You can choose the right clothing care program using the enhanced LCD touchscreen on the front of the Styler or, if it’s a connected device, via the app.
The new Styler also has features to improve the air quality in the room: a built-in ventilation system and dehumidifier. This technology will prevent the air around the Styler from becoming heavy and the clothes inside from becoming damp after cleaning.
Finally, the in-door pants press features an improved suspension system for cleaner creases in pants.
Should you buy the new LG Styler?
Price will be a factor in whether or not the new Styler is worth the investment, but overall we’d say that if you’re considering purchasing a Styler, this iteration has enough useful features to be worth it. However, if you already have one, we don’t think there are enough to warrant an upgrade. Purchasing a powerful portable steamer to upgrade your laundry room setup should do the trick.
