Speculation continues to wreak havoc on the world of graphics cards for gaming and is the price still on the rise and it is impossible to acquire a GPU even close to the MSRP, or maybe not. is this no longer the case? A new leak reveals that a manufacturer will lower the price of its graphics cards, while another will do the opposite. Are we at the beginning of breaking the current status quo? Comes the GPU price war.
No stock, no rare earth prices, no logistics or anything like that: GPUs go up or down in price precisely because of cryptocurrencies and not because of other values that were already calculated and adjusted to the era. But then, how can two builders take opposite paths at this time of the market and of the year?
The price war has just started
There is no magic wand here, most of the manufacturers look to the same companies to acquire the necessary components for the formation of their products and as such lowering the price or raising it must have other directions. more specific.
According to the Board Channels forums – which have successfully disclosed some news in the past – MSI will be in charge of lowering the price of certain GPU models. Concretely, there are three complete series:
- RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080: reduction between 47 to 94 dollars
- RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070
- RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3060: reduction between 15 to 31 dollars
Interestingly, the only GPUs that won’t get cuts are the RTX 3090 and the upcoming RTX 3090 Ti. In addition, this only concerns certain models that have not been revealed and at the same time it is mentioned that others will increase in price. What does this strange movement mean? Unofficial declaration of price war on GPU?
Well, there are graphics cards out of the price range that will either compete with newer models or those models can’t compete with other manufacturers and will adjust them.
The problem with this surely welcome move is that it would indicate the brutal margin of income and benefits that MSI has, whereas in a normal GPU market it wouldn’t happen at such levels or in our dreams.
The price of Sapphire RX 6000 GPUs to increase
The reverse route is always chosen by AMD where in this case, with Sapphire, they will increase the prices of their GPUs by a few dollars:
- AMD RX 6900: $ 79
- AMD RX 6600 XT: 63 dollars
- AMD RX 6600: 55 dollars
The rest of the models either there are no stock or they will stay the same, which suggests an upward adjustment which is not understood either, because in percentage it is quite high for a market where there are now a lot of GPUs and where the user is waiting for them to get off to launch a new model while still keeping their money in their pockets.
It’s a price war where the first pawn has moved and you have to expect the others to follow them to more or less adjust to the new game, unless their products border on current speculation. so as not to lose “profitability” with each sale.
