Sonic Prime trailers and posters
The second trailer finally showed off the multiversal aspects of this show and some very bizarre cyborg designs for the gang:
The first trailer reveals Eggman, and also has a showdown between Sonic and Shadow:
Here are the official character posters, which reveal a new design for Rouge the Bat:
The cast and crew of Sonic Prime
Sonic Prime now has an official cast list. Deven Mack steps into the lead role of Sonic, and his trusty sidekick Tails will be voiced by Ashleigh Ball. Amy will be played by Shannon Chan-Kent and Knuckles will be voiced by Adam Narada.
Also in the cast, Brian Drummond in Eggman, Vincent Tong in Shadow and Kazumi Evans in Rouge.
None of the actors from the games or movies will appear in Sonic Prime. Apparently, this is due to the fact that it is a Canadian production and as such the voice actors hired are those who live in this country.
Sonic Prime Plot
According to a statement from Wildbrain, Sonic will find himself “on a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands.” The site also reported that the character will go through a “journey of self-discovery and redemption.”
Concept art appears to show multiple versions of Eggman, a kitsune version of Tails, and a jungle-dressed Amy Rose (via TailsChannel on Twitter). Take a look below:
We now have a more detailed synopsis, courtesy of WildBrain:
In Sonic Prime, the action-packed adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog heat up when an encounter with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event. Desperate to piece together his prime reality and rescue his old friends, Sonic travels the Shatterverse, discovering strange worlds and enlisting new friends on an epic adventure of a lifetime!
It seems that in these multiverses there is no alternate version of Sonic. That’s shown in the clip of Sonic meeting the cyborg Tails, which tells a very different origin story than fans are used to:
