Google works on a considerable overhaul of its user interface for Android 16, and we suspect that everyone will not love it.
As we pointed out last week, Google plans to introduce a major update of its design language with Android 16, called expressive Material 3.
While the initial Android 16 Bettas 16 are very similar to Android 15, major changes could be defined to arrive further along the line. They seek to be inspired by certain interesting places and could prove to be division.
Expressive equipment 3 in the air a little more “iOS”
Android Authority plunged into the Android 16 Beta 4 code and revealed previously hidden evidence of some of these user interface changes.
A fairly major change seems to be for the design of combined notifications and the fast parameter panel. Although the iOS style split menu seems to be on the ice for the moment, there are still a few keys that seem to imitate the Apple operating system.
This includes re -foundable quick parameter tiles and an organizational system based on the category. He also seeks to implement a considerable dose of semi-transparency in this menu, as well as the application tank and the entry screen of the pin. All have highly blurred backgrounds rather than simple Android 15 equivalents.
Again, this is very rediscreet of iOS and its own menu of quick frostbite parameters.

New icons and menu design
Elsewhere, Google is experimenting with new, more remarkable icons in the status bar for Wi-Fi, mobile data, plane mode and battery level. There is also now a good touch of color to icons in the settings menu, while menu items are now separated into separate cards.
Google will also offer five new icon shape options: square, cookie on four sides, seven -side cookie, arch and complex clover.
The locking screen widget is also defined to be modified to centralize all the information, while notifications of the lock screen could also offer the possibility of smaller and more discreet previews until you support it.
The separate volume user interface screen also receives a certain attention, with thinner volume bars and separate text for the media, the call, the ring and similar. The volume bar itself also looks more square, reflecting a slight round of the rounded style of Android 15.
All this confirms our initial impression that, although the expressive equipment is not as much a whole new user interface, it will represent a fairly considerable overhaul of Android that we know.
