Currently the application is still in public beta, so it is possible that it has operational or performance issues, although since it is a public beta the chances of this happening are very weak. At the moment this application works complementary to the NVIDIA Control Panel and GeForce Experience, so we can keep all three applications installed, as long as they continue to have official support.
In the future, when NVIDIA releases the final version of this application, the GeForce Experience application will most likely disappear from the NVIDIA website. However, the NVIDIA Control Panel app will continue to be available in the Microsoft Store for users using older computers whose graphics are no longer officially supported.
How to download the NVIDIA app
The new NVIDIA app is available for free download via the link below. During the installation process it will invite us to select the use that we are going to give it to get the most out of our graphics. It should be borne in mind that this application does not work with all the graphics cards that NVIDIA has launched on the market, since the oldest ones are not compatible.
If the application is not compatible with our graphics card because it is very old, it will show us a warning message, so we have no choice but to continue using the traditional method, c ‘that is, the NVIDIA control panel and the GeForce Experience application.
How the NVIDIA app works in detail
As we mentioned above, NVIDIA App brings together in a single application all the functions that it has until now offered us independently through the NVIDIA Control Panel and with GeForce Experience. NVIDIA has done a great job in creating a very simple and intuitive user interface so that any user, even without knowledge, can interact with the application without any problems.
The main interface of the application divides all functions into 5 categories: Home, Drivers, Graphics, Exchange and Settings.
Beginning
In the Home category, there are two sections. Library Yes Discover. At the top, the latest news related to NVIDIA news and the latest titles arriving on the market are presented to get the most out of it thanks to NVIDIA graphics technology.
In the Library section, the latest games that we have run on the computer are displayed, so that we always have them at hand. If we want to access everything we have, click on SEE ALL, a button located just to the right of Library.
Inside the section DiscoverNVIDIA applications and platforms are presented that we can also install on our computer to get the most out of our graphics.
Controllers
As expected, in the Drivers category, the version of the driver we have installed, the date and whether it is the latest version available will be displayed. From this same section we can also install with Game-Ready Controllers and the Studio controller
At the bottom of this category, new features that have received the latest update are displayed (DLSS support for games recently released on the market), issues that have been resolved in certain games, among others.
Chart
In the Graphics category are the functions that, until now, were available in the Control Panel application. Within this category, we have two subdivisions: Program settings Yes General setting.
Program settings
When you click on Program Settings, the NVIDIA application will display all the games and applications that we have installed on the computer that use the graphics. When you click on each of the games, the configuration options that we have established in the application will be displayed in the right section.
In addition, it also allows us to modify the settings to favor game performance (smoother) or warm graphics thanks to the sliding bar located just above the game configuration options. As we can see, the same Configuration options are displayed which until now were only available via the NVIDIA Control Panel.
General setting
As we can deduce from the name, the Global Configuration section allows us to check and modify the operation of the graphics card that we have installed, just as we can also do it from the NVIDIA control panel. Any changes we make to settings with the NVIDIA app will also be displayed in the Control Panel app.
Configuration options shown are: RTX HDR, CUDA – GPU, DSR Factors, Image Scaling, Low Latency Mode, Max Frame Rate, Power Control Mode, Shader Cache Size and vertical synchronization. If any of these features are not available in our chart, they will be displayed in dark gray.
Redeem
This category allows us to use promotional codes that some video game developers offer periodically. All available ones are displayed here, whether the game is installed or not. This category could have been placed in any other place, because it does not have the same importance as the previous ones.
Setting
The Settings tab displays 3 categories: System, Notifications and About.
System / Overlay / Filters
In System, the hardware configuration of our computer is displayed (processor, RAM, hard drives, resolution, among others), as well as the graphics model that we have installed.
If we scroll further down there are the options for NVIDIA Overlay to take screenshots, clips, check performance, among others. Additionally, there is also the possibility Game filters and photo modethis option allows us to personalize the gaming experience using AI filters in addition to taking screenshots.
Notifications
From here we can configure if we want the app to notify us when we have a new version of the app and if new coupons have been added to use.
About
This last option allows us to establish the privacy options of the application so as not to share them with NVIDIA in addition to registering for the beta program for the next updates to be released.
