We all know that CES 2025 will be the stage where Nvidia will present its new generation of graphics cards, the RTX 50 Series, which we have been talking about for months. But in addition to desktop GPUs, those in green will also showcase the next generation of laptop graphicsand at this point, the performance that the star of all will have, the RTX4060.
Lately, as many gaming laptops have been sold or more than dedicated graphics for desktops, so it is not surprising that NVIDIA is working very hard to improve the numbers of the new generation. And, according to the latest leak that we're going to talk about below, things are certainly looking very good.
RTX 5060 for laptops outperforms RTX 4060 by 30%
The news of course comes from the Chinese Bilibili forums, an almost unlimited source of leaks and rumors. In this case it is the user Superalloy Skittles, known for analyzing monitors and processors, who has disclosed through a video the performance of this RTX 5060 for laptops that we are talking about today. More precisely, the user showed the result of this graph in the well-known benchmark 3DMarkalthough it doesn't offer any information on its exact specifications (and since it's a video recording a laptop screen, it looks pretty bad).
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 scored 13,821 points in the 3DMark Time Spy graphics section, 32% more performance than this generation's RTX 4060 Mobile. This performance improvement is comparable to the RTX 4060's 25-50% improvement over the previous generation RTX 3060, so NVIDIA is not only continuing on the right track but has raised the bar a little higher, at least if we trust it . data from this benchmark.
It should be taken into account that 3DMark is a synthetic benchmark, which means that it is carried out with specific parameters and that the real performance in games may differ a little, especially when it comes to a graphics card for laptops, because then the manufacturer can establish different TDP and cooling settings that greatly affect performance. In any case, the result is quite encouraging and we can imagine that the next generation of gaming laptops will be very, very good, right?
It is expected that during NVIDIA's presentation at this year's CES, the company's CEO will talk about the RTX 50 Series desktop computers but also the first laptops equipped with this new generation of graphics. NVIDIA doesn't normally talk about specific performance numbers, but it should report the exact specs of these new graphics.
Regardless, and although we don't have much left to dispel doubts, the truth is that this leak has left us with a very good taste in our mouths because it means that gaming laptops featuring of NVIDIA graphics will have a much higher cost. gaming performance than the current generation. We'll see if this also means an increase in prices, let's hope not…
The RTX 5090, the first with 3 GB VRAM chips
Another news, or rather rumor, regarding the new generation of graphics for NVIDIA laptops concerns the RTX 5090 Laptop and its memory, because it would be the first graphics card to equip 3 GB GDDR7 chips. Be careful, this is not that the graphics card will only have 3 GB of VRAM, but it would be the first to use these chips, an interesting thing because it would allow configurations of 8, 16 and 32 GB but also with 12 or 24 GB, to give an example. Also, this makes sense because it would fit the “fad” of having 24GB of DDR5 RAM in modern PCs.
