Samsung launched a slew of new products last year, but we're expecting many more at the upcoming Unpacked event, which will take place soon.
The brand's biggest launches in 2024 have been the flagship Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 foldables and, of course, wearables like the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Ring.
However, the focus now is on Samsung's first launch in 2025, where we expect to see the Galaxy S25 series.
Here's everything we know about this event and what should be announced.
When does Samsung usually hold events?
Samsung is known for its big new product unveils, often during high-profile Galaxy Unpacked events. These usually happen several times a year, with high-end phones, tablets and smartwatches on the agenda.
Historically, Samsung has followed a regular schedule, with Unpacked events taking place at two key times of the year:
- January/February: Usually to unveil Galaxy S phones
- July/August: Typically to announce Galaxy Z foldables, Galaxy Tab S tablets, and Galaxy Watch smartwatches
However, the Galaxy Tab S10 series was unveiled in September 2024, rather than at the start of the year like the Tab S8 series in 2022 or at a summer event like the Tab S9 in 2023, it will not therefore does not act as a fixed model.
When will the next Samsung event take place?
In an official blog post, Samsung confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on January 22, 2025.

What will Samsung announce at its next event?
Samsung has now confirmed the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, teasing announcements of what appears to be up to four new phones.
Galaxy S25 series
Samsung is expected to launch its Galaxy S25 series in January 2025, comprising the standard Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and the premium Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, these devices are expected to offer higher performance and improved power efficiency, a departure from the mixed chipsets used in the Galaxy S24 series.
The Ultra model is expected to feature improved ultra-wide and telephoto camera sensors, while modest design changes and improvements to AI capabilities, including via the Bixby assistant, are expected across the range.
Android titles
A rounder body design and Qi2 wireless charging could also debut, bringing Samsung closer to Apple's magnetic charging ecosystem.
Galaxy S25 Thin
Samsung could also introduce the Galaxy S25 Slim, a remarkably thin version of its flagship that can match the 200MP main camera of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Rumors suggest that this device could launch either alongside the S25 series or in a separate event later in 2025.
Galaxy Z Flip FE
Rumors about more affordable Samsung foldables have been circulating for some time. Last year, there was speculation about a Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, which is expected to launch alongside Samsung's flagship foldable devices and potentially appear in 2024 or at the Unpacked 2025 event.
But talk of a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold has waned and attention has shifted to another, more budget-friendly option. Reports suggest that Samsung could be working on a Galaxy Z Flip FE, aiming to provide a cheaper alternative to its flagship foldable flip phone.

Specific details on the Galaxy Z Flip FE are scarce, but it's rumored to debut in 2025, likely later in the year rather than during January's Unpacked event. Despite the lack of concrete information, the possibility of this new model remains an intriguing prospect.
A user interface 7
One certainty for the Unpacked 2025 event is the launch of Samsung's One UI 7, which is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series. Built on Android 15, this long-awaited software update should be highlighted, especially if it introduces significant new features.
A beta version of One UI 7 was released in December, available to Galaxy S24 users. The beta includes advanced writing support tools, expanding on features introduced with Galaxy AI last January, as well as support for call transcriptions in multiple languages and enhanced security upgrades.

Additionally, the lock screen has been overhauled with the inclusion of the “Bar Now” feature, which provides over-the-air updates reminiscent of Apple's Dynamic Island. These updates suggest a more refined and feature-rich interface to accompany Samsung's upcoming devices.
Galactic Ring 2
Samsung's first smart ring was released in July 2024, making a sequel unlikely for now. However, rumors suggest that the Galaxy Ring 2 could arrive sooner than initially expected.
Samsung showed off the first Galaxy Ring during the Unpacked 2024 event, so it's possible the company could use the upcoming Unpacked 2025 to preview an update, especially if it's related to new health tracking features.

Speculation about the Galaxy Ring 2 points to a slimmer design, improved battery life, and as-yet-unknown capabilities, which could make it an intriguing addition to Samsung's lineup when it launches.
Galaxy XR headphones and more
At Unpacked 2023, Qualcomm, Google and Samsung announced a partnership to develop a mixed reality platform, hinting at headset-like hardware. While initial plans called for a 2024 release, the launch was delayed until 2025.
Looking ahead to 2025, Samsung's mixed reality ambitions are taking shape following Google's unveiling of the Android XR platform, designed to support new headsets and smart glasses.
Samsung has confirmed that its next headset, named Project Moohan, will be the first device to run Android XR and is expected to launch this year, suggesting it could be previewed on Galaxy Unpacked.
This is everything we expect to see at the next Galaxy Unpacked event. It will definitely bring some great flagship devices.
