The PC cases had, prior to its production, the manufacturing and sales phase, a construction phase that in many cases contained a team of engineers who thought and re-discovered the best way Combine functionality and utility. This means that, among other things, when we remove the side cover out of the box we will be removing one of the considerations of this developer team and it will no longer work as it should, contrary to what we would most likely think that being on the open side, we would be improve temperatures
Temperature depends on air flow
The air flow of the box is designed, in many cases, to get fresh air into and out of the back, cooling all the elements found in the process. If we remove the side cover of the box, we will create fresh air that the front fans receive in this case without cooling the parts, so we will be reducing its thermal performance.
It is true that sometimes, removing the side cover of the box can improve the temperature of any objects – especially the graphics card when we play -, but when this happens it is because we have not properly adjusted the inside of the box so that cooling is sufficient. In other words, if the flow of air is not enough, they can build up hot air bags
Some side effects of PC
But the above is not the only side effect of removing the PC side cover, because there are some harmful effects, and the first is that we will be allowing the dust is easily deposited Above our computer.
As a general rule and especially on the upper edges, the boxes are designed so that the air can enter one place and leave the other, and in the installations place grilles or or dust filters
Another side effect of removing the side cover is that it will reduce the cushion the sound that the machines come out, and this you will notice especially if you have a box on the table. The difference in the noise we see between being on the side or not can be more than 15 dBA.
In short, as a general rule and unless we tell you (and we have a solution, we also provide air flow in the box), it would be inappropriate to remove the side panel, and the recommendation is obviously not to do so.
