DJI’s Mini drone series has a high reputation in the market for delivering advanced functions in an extremely portable device structure, with long-range capability when it comes to delivering flight times.
So far we’ve seen two generations of devices (three if we have the Mini SE which is based on the original Mini). Thus, it is now that rumors are circulating about the possible arrival of a third generation drone.
An image posted on Twitter by the well-known leaker DJI Osita LV shows what appears to be a minimalist product that hints at the arrival of what would be the DJI Mini 3 Pro. As the tweet itself mentions, this is information that must be taken with a grain of salt as the image has been processed.
Before more confirmation, I will consider this photo as a joke. pic.twitter.com/En7LIBv1jf

However, not everyone thinks it’s a hoax. Jasper Ellens, who previously leaked the specs of the Mavic 3, where he says he doesn’t think it’s wrong. If confirmed, we would be seeing a product with a complete overhaul.
The angry sensor caption design reminds me of the Air2. The new gap will prevent the 48MP camera from tipping over when accelerating. I don’t think that’s wrong. It’s just a complete overhaul. You asked for a mini 2 with sensors, that’s what you get 😅 soon pic.twitter.com/JlgnJto0g6

Two interesting things can be seen in the image. First, there are front sensors for obstacle avoidance, a feature missing from the current Mini series. The second is the inclusion of a controller with an integrated screen.
It looks a lot like a more compact version of DJI’s RC Pro (pictured below) that comes with the Mavic 3, with fewer buttons and a lighter gray color.
The DJI RC text reinforces this assumption, as calling the Mavic controller PRO gives way to a non-PRO model.
However, the name DJI Mini 3 Pro is a bit problematic. It would be the first Mini to get a Pro suffix and suggests there is also a non-Pro suffix. That may be the case, but it would add additional models to an already well-established line of drones.
One of the reasons to suspect that the image is wrong is that the pair of front folding arms don’t look right: if they fold out instead of rotating 180°, the props would still be there. towards.
People who commented on Twitter are also wary of the Photoshop tricks, saying the arms are upside down and so is the gimbal. Time will tell who is right.
When is the DJI Mini 3 release date?
If the image is true, the official announcement could take place in the next few months. In fact, enough time has passed since the company announced the Mini 2 in November 2020 that the release cycle is near.
For its part, the original Mini launched in October 2019, so a late 2021 release for the Mini 3 would have made sense, but since that didn’t happen, no one now knows when it might launch for good.
How much will the DJI Mini 3 cost?
That’s another unanswered question, because chances are the product isn’t even real. Anyway, the DJI Mini 2 Its introductory price is $459 ($599 if you buy the accessory pack).
In the case of DJI Mini SE, the company chose to position the drone at a cheaper price point in order to offer a more affordable product. So, you can currently find it for $299 ($399 for the accessory pack).
Based on that, if the Mini 3 Pro does come to fruition, it will likely cost more than the Mini 2, due to the addition of obstacle sensors and the controller that mounts a screen.
There could also be a number of other upgrades, such as a better camera and an image processor that could, for example, record at 4K and 60 fps. The Mini 2 maxes out at 4K at 30 fps, emulating the most advanced range
It is useless to speculate beyond that, as there is no other information to corroborate the image. We will be careful to update the information when new leaks arise.
