Samsung has just announced the Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone, but the first rumors make me much more excited for the Xiaomi 16.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 EDGE offers an experience at the flagship level largely at a decidedly flagship price, with the key touch of a 5.3 mm thick body.
I can't help but think that Samsung answers a question that no one asked, however, and can even miss the point entirely. A new leak from Xiaomi 16 has really helped to clarify things for me.
Xiaomi 16: a little phone with power
According to a new post Weibo by Chinese Leaker Smart Pikachu, the Xiaomi 16 will include a huge battery of 6800 mAh, despite the maintenance of the small screen for which the series is known.
For reference, the Xiaomi 15 houses a 6.3 -inch OLED display in its (relatively) compact body 152.3 x 71.2 x 8.1 mm.
Now, I should issue a warning here. This declared battery capacity could well be a matter only in China, the world model receiving a much smaller cell.
The Chinese Xiaomi 15 model, for example, came with a 5,400 mAh battery against 5,240 mAh in the world model.
The difference is not huge, however, and it is probably sure to assume that the overall model of the Xiaomi 16 will correspond at the very least and will probably exceed the capacity of the battery of its predecessor. This will make its battery more spacious than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, not to mention the edge.

Does Samsung lose its edge?
It would make Xiaomi 16 a usefully compact phone (does a lean factor really help someone?) With a much larger battery than the Samsung Galaxy S25 edge.
In the pursuit of the meshes of pride, Samsung adapted his new phone with a puny cell of 3,900 mAh. It is even smaller than that of the Galaxy S25, which is the current equivalent of Samsung Xiaomi 15.
Samsung is generally a DAB hand to optimize its phones to extract solid endurance, but I do not see how the Galaxy S25 Edge will be something other than the S25 litter cycle in this department.

Smaller and more elegant phones are a trend that I would like to encourage, but not to the detriment of practicality. It's not just a problem of battery life either – thanks to this slim body, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge loses a dedicated telephoto lens.
If the Xiaomi 16 follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, it will not suffer any of these major omissions, the Xiaomi 15 packing a third credible objective.
Whether it is also the first phone to present the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip from Qualcomm is only the icing on the cake. Add a load of 100W and a launch of previous September only from September, and he would see the Xiaomi phone completely exceeding the advantage in the months following the launch of the latter – and probably at a much lower price to start.
Samsung deserves praise for having been first with the whole concept of flagship super skinny phone, Apple widely planned.
I will support judgment until I have the chance to use the Galaxy S25 Edge, but I lean more towards the Xiaomi approach of a classic compact flagship product with a large silicon carbon battery.
