Possibly, Intel's most-watched product is not its equipment, or its FPGAs, or its new buildings and platforms themselves, but its new graphics cards. After a fully "disappointing" presentation CES 2020, the Swan had an ace up their sleeve that they offered behind closed doors and that changed the perception of the denials and wishes of the maker of this 2020.
Intel Xe DG1: The first piece of the puzzle is real
The introduction of the Xe architecture and its specific models were based on different hardware. Specifically, Intel first showed the laptop, nothing lighter and more sensitive, but when its graphics card (we decided that under Tiger in the lake
This in itself is very important, because it shows that Intel has a much more advanced ecosystem than previously thought and that your IGPU is on the right track, but above all, it has shown that its power consumption in terms of power is seen to be excellent.
The DG1 graphics card was shown as an ITX size GPU with a novel design of its unity and cover, which also featured the original backdrop. Ironically, it is the card that Intel calls «Software Development Vehicle«, Which is a new concept for those known as ES.
And that the company will supply a certain number of samples of this DG1 to software providers so that they can begin development and proper renovation testing.
DG1 will be compatible with development kit
The card itself will be presented in the form of ITX machines where it will be installed and that Intel has shown, which is unusual and confirms the company's intention to showcase the power and marked time.
Reportedly, the DG1 kit also works with Warframe at 1080p, where it ran with the rest minimum 30 FPS. Rumors confirm that, as it turns out, the card usage is less than 75 watts and given its two-stage design with a simple fan, its use could be around 25 watts
Unfortunately, there is not much we can tell you about the card itself, because Intel has not provided any further details, which I see the way they have a build, where this DG1 will come under the name and scope of the Xe LP, which includes Ultra Mobile, Mobile PC and Games.
Xe HP will include Workstation, Media Transcode Analytics and Cloud GFX in part, where the latter seems to be shared with the top and most powerful Xe HPC list, which will include DL / training and HPC / Exascale.
After all, this presentation just wants to show one thing: Intel has much more advanced architecture than previously thought, it's real, practical and already on its way, which is certainly the biggest surprise of this CES 2020.
