Hellblade II– the sequel to the absolutely fantastic action-adventure game from 2017 Hellblade: Senua’s victim—brings our Pictish warrior Senua to Iceland. The latest trailer was revealed in 2023 The Game Awards, gives us a look at the fight and cinematics. It’s creepy, with menacing dialogue and a sound that’s as eerie as it is impressive.
Based on the trailer above, this sequel looks a little less depressing than its processor, but still just as unsettling. We see some fights between Senua and a few warriors, with the retracted camera and hand-to-hand combat giving the fight a real sense of danger and urgency that reminds me of my visceral reaction when playing the original Hellblade. And then you may have the cinematic cutscenes, which are infuriating and menacing, in which our heroine monologues about her will to fight, screaming in pain one moment and gritting her teeth to go into battle the next. Hellblade II looks intense as hell and my body is ready. Is yours?
