A new gameplay trailer for the action-adventure game A Plague Tale: Requiem was shared at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on Sunday.

It’s rat time again. The trailer shows more stealth and sneakiness in a plague-ridden world — and of course, more fireballs throwing at swarming, writhing rathills. Protagonist Amicia dashes around her, sometimes even using her to take out her enemies. Gameplay appears to be heavily based on stealth against a mix of realistic and supernatural enemies.

In the sequel from 2019 A Plague Story: Innocence, the orphans Amicia and Hugo travel south. The two “try to start a new life and control Hugo’s curse,” it says Xbox Wireand “when Hugo’s powers reawaken, death and destruction return in a tide of devouring rats.” The siblings set out for a “prophesied island that may hold the key to Hugo’s rescue.”

This sequel will take players to a new region inspired by medieval France Xbox Wire. The game leaves behind the “cloudy atmosphere of 14th-century Aquitaine” in favor of Provence.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released sometime in 2022 for Xbox Series X and PC and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
