Try to describe it Echo Point Novaa newly released PC shooter, is a tricky thing. I could describe it as a game that mixes TitanfallClockwork, modern DoomShoot-out, Minecraft‘S destructibility, Skyward SwordFloating islands and crazy hoverboarding in one strange package – although that probably makes it sound like a terrible mess. But trust me, Echo Point Nova is not a mess. Instead, it’s one of the best shooters I’ve played in years.
Here is the setup for Echo Point Nova: You are a cool soldier with a cute hoverboard and a grappling hook. They crash land on a planet that is nothing more than hundreds of floating islands. The place has been invaded by a large group of shitty mercenaries looking to exploit the ancient technology that probably led to the planet’s destruction in the first place. To stop them, you’ll need to travel around the various islands using your aforementioned hoverboard and grappling hook, unlocking new weapons, upgrades and perks along the way to take on bigger fights and huge bosses.
On paper I admit this Echo Point Nova doesn’t sound like much. But once you start playing this new FPS, you’ll quickly discover a shooter that offers tons of freedom and options, all of which are fun and look great.
I’ve lost track of how many times before I’ve climbed up a wall on my hoverboard, spun around, killed some enemies with my assault rifle, pushed myself to another wall, triple-jumped at an enemy mech, and then taken him with me a grenade launcher Slow down time and shoot some flying bad guys from a distance upside down. It sounds complicated, it looks impressive, but Echo Point NovaThe controls and gunplay are silky smooth, super responsive and easy to master.
This is a game that’s more fun when you have someone standing behind you, watching you perform wild acrobatics as you fend off waves of enemies to unlock new upgrades or weapons. And because it’s an open world, you decide how hard or easy you want things to be. You can initially focus on easier outposts or aim for more challenging missions to get better equipment. It’s up to you! If you see this huge floating desert in the sky, you can go there.
But it’s not fair Echo Point NovaThe fight and the movement convinced me. The game has an eerie and strange atmosphere. You ride the hoverboard over tiny islands floating in the sky and then reach a half-buried temple. You can explore it by mining a tunnel with your pickaxe Minecraft
It’s a strange combination, Doom-like FPS action with empty and lonely alien vistas, but it works really well Echo Point Nova— Especially because exploring these places is done at 200 miles per hour on an awesome hoverboard.
Echo Point Nova There are a few rough edges, such as the first big boss fight being a pain in the ass and the health system feeling a bit too punishing for players who might not enjoy constantly flying around like maniacs during big fights. Still, I think Echo Point Nova It’s worth playing as it’s one of the strangest shooters I’ve ever played, but also one of the most entertaining I’ve had in a video game in 2024.
