Here’s a sign of the times: Activision has confirmed through newly released financial documents that it made more money from its mobile games than all of its console and PC games combined last quarter.

As discovered by TweakTown, Activision’s quarterly report was released last week and provides insight into how its biggest games are doing financially across PC, console and mobile. And because of games like Diablo immortal, Call of Duty Cell Phoneand candy Crush Sagathe besieged call of Duty Publisher makes big money from mobile games. In fact, more than half of total revenue for Q2 2022 came from mobile titles, rather than console or PC games.

According to the message, approximately 51 percent of Activision’s total revenue for Q2 2022 comes from mobile games. That adds up to a total of $831 million in mobile gaming revenue. Meanwhile, its console games earned around $376 million and PC games a little less, $332 million. Eventually, it earned $105 million from events and esports.

What you might not expect, especially if you don’t know how massive mobile gaming has become over the last decade, is the $831 million made from phone gaming. Most of it came from King’s titles and not things like that Call of Duty Cell Phone. In the report, Activision says that King titles like Candy Crush and peasant heroes grossed over $680 million.

What these numbers show is that for big publishers like Activision, the future is likely to be one where they invest even more resources and money into mobile games and less and less focus on console games. At a time when AAA games are more expensive than ever, take years to createand often flops, mobile games have become a lifeline for big game companies trying to stay afloat.

It is particularly important for Activision because call of Duty continues to lose millions of players and perform below average. As the company has spent years focusing much of its energies on it call of Dutyeventually every studio that owned it working on the franchise in some way – it’s likely that it will try to diversify into mobile more, not less, in the future.

It should also be noted that Activision’s hugely successful mobile games are one of the main reasons Microsoft started buying the company earlier this year following a major public fallout after the company was sued through years of sexual harassment and discrimination.

Somehow, call of Duty and Warcraft are more like bonuses that Xbox gets on top of King and his money printing games.
