Activision has canceled a Crash Bandicoot/Spyro crossover game

A new report claims that Crash Bandicoot 5 was released by Activision, but then canceled very early in development due to Crash 4 is selling poorly and the publisher wants to focus more on live service titles, How Call of Duty: Warzone. Interestingly, this game would have featured a cross between the Wumpa fruit-loving marsupial and another platforming mascot, Spyro the Dragon.

According to a new report by gaming journalist and historian Liam Robertson, former Activision-owned studio Toys For Bob began work on a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot Game after it was Spyro reignites trilogyBut then the company took over some of that work and started developing 2020’s Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About TimeThe game was well received by fans and critics and Toys For Bob began planning a sequel.

This new game, known internally as Crash Bandicoot 5was planned as a direct sequel to Crash 4 and would be a single-player 3D platform game, like the previous installments in the long-running franchise.

Robertson’s video contains concept drawings and possible story ideas for this never-finished crash Sequel. At one point, the developers planned to include Spyro in the sequel, with the report claiming the two worked together to save their respective universes from a huge cataclysmic event. Both characters would be playable and players would even see both characters’ universes in this multiverse pitch.

According to the report, Toys For Bob was only working on Crash 5 for about three to four months and focused largely on concept art and early environments. In winter 2020, Activision canceled Crash 5, Reportedly due to Crash 4The low sales and the publisher’s desire to focus on online games rather than single-player titles. Toys for Bob then worked on Crash Team Rumblea short-lived and not very popular online game that you probably forgotten, even started.

Fortunately Toys for Bob survived all that. In February, the company announced that it would become independent and work on a new project with Activision owner Microsoft. Now it is rumored that Toys For Bob is working on a new Spyro Game.
