Ash of War: Carian Sovereignty can be applied to Curved Swords, Curved Greatswords, Daggers, Greatswords, Heavy Thrusting Swords, Katanas, Straight Swords, Twin Blades, and Thrusting Swords.. When you use it, you ram a giant magical greatsword at your enemies, which can be followed by an additional horizontal swing. Both attacks can be charged to increase their damage.

The item description of Carian Sovereignty is:
“These Ashes of War grant a weapon Magic Affinity and the following skill:

Where to Find the Ashes of War: Carian Sovereignty
Carian Sovereignty can be found in a cave in Scadu Altus. To get there, fast travel to the Cathedral of Mantus Metyr Site of Grace.
Exit the Cathedral from the Site of Grace and head east to find a lower section of cliff that runs parallel to the upper section that the Cathedral sits on. At the very end of this cliff, behind numerous wolves, is a small cave set into the wall.
As you enter the small, dark cave, look up to see a teardrop-shaped scarab hanging above you. Strike it down with a ranged attack and kill it to receive Ash of War: Carian Sovereignty.
