Obsidian's latest RPG, Confessibleis now on Xbox and PC (F)Or those who have pre -ordered the expensive unusual version) And it's a really good game! But an important thing that I wanted to emphasize is the inventory and element management system of the RPG because it is really good and I want more games to copy it.
Sure, I freely admit that the inventory system of an RPG may not be the sexiest or coolest topic. But it is a very important part of every game that contains prey, potions, food, weapons and equipment.
A bad inventory system can ruin a great game and make it your task. It is not my idea of fun, in a shop or in a city to relieve crap, endlessly playing around with different pockets or forced to return to a shop or a city. So I was glad to discover that Confessible Avoids all of these annoying work with its optimized and intelligent inventory system. The result is a more pleasant experience because you spend less time doing with 400 articles and more time that you actually want to do in a large RPG.
Maybe the biggest and smartest function in Confessible is the possibility to transport objects immediately and easily to your camp. Do you find a cool sword that doesn't quite fit your current build, but you want to play around with it later? Send it back to the camp with a single button. Press it. Do you stumble across valuable armor that is really heavy and will make you run over, but you want to sell them later? Just press a button and send it back to your camp. You can do this anywhere without restrictions and it's great. Does it make sense? No, but the fact that I can keep 10 swords at all make no sense, so who cares?
The thing is, however, that you may not have to use this function so much because a lot of prey you find Confessible Weigh nothing. Consumption materials – foods, potions, lock picks – have nothing. Likewise, the craft and upgrade materials – iron, wood, furs – weigh nothing. I never have about 40 hours with me ConfessibleLeave a dungeon desperate to sell things to release an existing room. This is a frequent event with many RPGsbut not Confessible. And even if they absorb far too many swords and arms that Do Weigh yourself, you can simply teleport this stuff to camp.
But funny enough, you often don't even have to do it, as you can break down every weapon or a piece of equipment at any time and get your resources. Then you can use these resources that weigh nothing to improve your equipped equipment and do it better. It's wonderful.
Some could argue that this is too comfortable and simple. I do not agree. I think Obsidian rightly realized that the management of stacked sweats and pieces of iron is not much fun, and it is not what people want from a role -playing game. I want to fight against Monster, meet new characters, explore strange countries and save the day. And Confessible Concentrates on all of the stuff and does not let inventory management get in the way.
I think more games should do that. Find out what your game should be and what experience that players have while you have it while you play it. As soon as you have understood that, cut everything that does not help to achieve this desired experience. Ultimately, it's not the reason why people play games like games like ConfessibleSo why make you do it?
