The Houndour family gets a nice bluish cast versus their usual colors, but most importantly, Houndoom has Mega Evolution. If you get a chance to snag a bunch of Houndhounds, take the opportunity and try to find one with high IVs so you can Mega Evolve them later.

According to The Silph Roadthe shiny rate for Pokémon is about one in 500 on a normal day. Houndour isn’t a Pokémon that gets a “permaboost” (meaning it’s a rare spawn and therefore gets an increased shiny rate).
What can I do to attract more Shiny Pokémon?
Unfortunately not much. It seems to be a coincidence. Shiny Pokemon catch rates are set by developer Niantic and usually only increase during special events like Community Days or Safari Zones, or during Legendary Raids. There are no consumable items that increase the rate of Shiny Pokemon.
