As in the Silph RoadOn a typical day, the shiny rate for Pokémon is about one in 500. Ponyta is not a Pokémon that gets a “perma boost” (meaning it’s a rare spawn and therefore gets an increased shiny rate).

Unfortunately not much. It seems to be coincidence. Shiny Pokemon catch rates are set by developer Niantic and typically only increase during special events like Community Days or Safari Zones or in Legendary Raids. There are no consumable items that increase Shiny Pokemon rates.
