Nintendo will be releasing new information on the upcoming Super Nintendo World theme park tonight. At 3 p.m. PST / 6 p.m. EST, a 15-minute Nintendo Direct will showcase some of the new Nintendo themed areas at Universal Studios Japan.
Nintendo and Universal Studios originally planned to open the park expansion this summer along with the Tokyo Olympics, but the date has been postponed due to coronavirus concerns. The new country is now expected to open its doors on February 4, 2021. There are two main attractions available on opening day, a Mario Kart ride and a ride based on Yoshi’s adventure.
A quick look at the Mario Kart ride – called Koopa’s Challenge – revealed a hybrid ride, a cart on rails that uses an AR headset to enhance the experience. The director can show more about this ride, the Yoshi ride, just be an info dump about the upcoming theme park.
No game content is announced with this direct. The stream will be available on Nintendo’s YouTube page.
