Did you or a loved one miss something? Death Stranding when it was launched in 2019? Want to play through Kojima’s UPS delivery simulator? before the sequel comes out? Well you’re in luck, the game is free for a limited time on the Epic Games Store.

To be clear, this is the original iteration of Death Strandingnot the extended one Director’s Cut launched in 2021 with all new features and story content. So if you want what some would probably call the “more complete” version of Norman Reedus’ babysitter trek, you’ll still have to shell out $23.99 (at least on sale). However, the basic version of the game is free until next Thursday, May 25th. Once the clock hits 11am, the game will revert to paid status and will cost $29.99. The Director’s Cut stays discounted until June 15th at 11am, then it will cost $39.99.

It is worth noting that some of the additions in the Director’s Cut It undermines a lot of what made the game great. So there could be an argument for simply choosing to prefer the free original to the “final” version with the most content.

at the price of free, Death Stranding is worth a try. I’m saying it because I really wasn’t thrilled with the game when it first came out. I hear many compelling things about his story, as ridiculous as the baby pictures seem, they seem taken out of context (and probably out of context). I’d try it more as a film and Kojima makes abut it doesn’t follow the same story as the source material.

While Death Stranding may be divisive, it helped spawn what Kojima calls a new genre of “beach games.” What does that mean? Kojima defines it as a social connection at its core, and Developers like Strange Scaffold Those who have developed games that they claim also fall into this category also define them as focusing on promotion and the presence of transport elements.
