death stranding Series face creator and collector Hideo Kojima once said his game is a genre of its own. the world’s first “Strand” game. A film adaptation would then be the first “strand” film due to the transitive property. Watch the story of how it’s made: death stranding will be a film, the first of its kind, even if no one can say exactly what that means yet.
death strandingThe theatrical adaptation of is co-produced by barbarianExecutive Producer Alex Lebovici and Kojima himself. While the film is billed as sped up, no director, writer, or plot synopsis is available at this time, just stating that the film will “introduce new elements and characters to the film death stranding Universe,” according to a press rele ase.
As death strandingThe cast in the game consists mostly of characters played by Hollywood stars like Mads Mikkelsen and Norman Reedus. It would make sense for the film to follow new characters – even BB, the kid in the weird yellow capsule, has probably aged out of character.
That said, it’s not as if there isn’t a whole jumble of big ideas to explore — Kojima’s tale of a courier connecting a post-apocalyptic America plagued by apparitions from the afterlife is compelling material, enough to warrant the announcement a sequel Death Stranding 2was one of the more exciting things revealed during this year’s Game Awards.
It would just be a shame if Kojima couldn’t write or direct. He’s been telling us for years that after all, 70% of his body is made of movies.
