Vampire survivors It may not be the first car shoot-’em-up ever created, but it has certainly become the model that many clones and imitators have followed since its release in 2021. A game in this form, Deep Rock Galactic Survival, takes that basic formula and does something different by adding mining, weapons, and space dwarves to the mix. The final result? One of my favorite games of 2024 so far.
If you have played games like Survivor.IO, Halls of Torment, Brotato, or Vampire survivorsthen you will immediately be familiar with the basic gameplay of Deep Rock Galactic Survival
Where DRGS Changes things by putting the game in the Deep Rock Galactic universe, a sci-fi setting that mixes dwarves, aliens, alcohol, mining and minerals into one big piece of fun. The original game, a cooperative roguelike FPS, has been around for years and is quietly one of the most successful live service games around. It’s a perfect universe for an auto shooter like this DRGS, to. You explore randomly generated space caves full of alien creatures that want to tear you apart.
And just like in the main game, Survive Let yourself be mine. At first I didn’t think mining would change the auto shooter gameplay all that much. But after a few playthroughs, I realized that mining was not only useful for farming upgrade materials or completing quests, but that I could also use it to avoid enemies or create funnels to attack the large swarms of space spiders Those who wanted to tear me apart, better to kill them to shreds. They can also use mine tunnels to escape large swarms. Just be careful not to run into another group of insects and become surrounded. (This has happened to me a few times…)
The other interesting difference between DRGS and other auto shooters I’ve played is how focused each run feels. You don’t just survive to earn upgrade mats, which you can use to improve your character overall. Instead, you have goals that you must achieve in order to progress through each level of a mining operation.
Between being able to mine rocks around me, completing side objectives, and completing main mission objectives, I always felt like I was doing something Deep Rock Galactic Survival, which isn’t always the case with some of these games. But how vampire survivor, You can eventually reach a point where you’re so powerful that you don’t need to move much to live, which is still a lot of fun. However, you will need to move at some point to reach the level’s exit, and since you have a timer, once that exit is open, each run will be completed Survive intense and not too long.
Oh, and did I mention it runs great on Steam Deck? Yes, this is a perfect option for Valve’s portable gaming PC.
I wasn’t sure I needed another car shooter in my life – I already love it Halls of torment and still playing Vampire survivors-But Deep Rock Galactic Survival Might be my favorite of all as it gives me more to work with in each bite-sized run and feels like a natural evolution of the formula. Plus, it’s pretty darn cool to dig a giant tunnel through a large portion of the map, funneling everything into the area where a drop pod is supposed to land, and killing the boss in one go.
