I imagine the cross-section of people who still playing Fire ring but they don’t buy Shadow of the Earth Tree extension is pretty small. Still, those people are in luck because they can still benefit from a free update that will be released along with the DLC. In addition to various gameplay changes, it will significantly improve inventory management and even add more hairstyles.
FromSoftware teased the changes today in a short thread on Twitter. “An update for the Fire ring Base game & a Day 1 patch for Shadow of the Earth Tree will be distributed on 20 June,” the company said wrote“The update includes bug fixes, balance adjustments, and some new features.”
The biggest change is to items. You no longer have to run around collecting stuff and then have no idea where it ended up in your inventory. Newly acquired items now have an exclamation mark on their icons until the player highlights them. In addition, recently acquired items get their very own inventory tab. This was a change People have noticed in practical use of the Shadow of the Earth Tree DLC earlier this month and it sounded like a huge quality of life improvement.

Summon pools are also being optimized. Active summon pools are now carried over into the new game Plus and individual summon pools can be turned on and off via a new map function menu. Fire ring is also getting five new hairstyles that players can select during character creation or when using the Clouded Mirror Stand or Rennala’s Rebirth feature. I’d love to hear the backstory on what looks they think are missing from the game and why.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Players will be able to discover the rest of the update’s changes and features once it goes live. Shadow of the Earth Tree and the corresponding patch will be released on June 21st. The DLC will be available from midnight local timewith pre-loading available on PlayStation and Xbox players getting earlier access if they change their region to New Zealand. It’s time to level up in the base game if you haven’t already!
