Today Microsoft held its Developer Direct presentation, which focused on a range of new games coming to Xbox, PC and Game Pass. We’ve got a new look at some anticipated titles, as well as a nice little rhythmic surprise from the developers of The evil within. But enough talking, let’s get to what Microsoft showed today.
Minecraft Legends
We first heard about Minecraft Legends last year. A spin-off of the hugely popular sandbox survival game, legends is, perhaps unexpectedly, a multiplayer action-strategy game. legends will have both narrative co-op and PvP with procedurally generated environments, which is a lot of what we’ve seen today. Forza Motorsport
People over at Turn 10 showed a lot wildly pretty shots of the coming Forza Motorsport, which is expected to arrive later this year. This presentation focused on the finer details of Motorsports‘s visual flair, including highly detailed dirt, damage and “battle scars” that will build up on your digital cars, as well as additional details added to the game’s dynamic time of day and trackside vegetation. Cars are also expected to get more realistic physical behavior, with improvements to the suspension and exhaust.

Hi-Fi Rush
Surely we’ve all thought, “Why can’t we defeat the corporate overlords in a brightly colored action game with rhythmic action cues?” Oh, and made by the people who made it The evil within.” Now think no more: Hi-Fi Rush was the biggest surprise of the day, putting players in the shoes of an aspiring rock star with a rhythmic robotic arm beating to the beat with a flying V guitar… which makes sense, as that’s all a flying V is good for. It looks like a lot of fun, and by the way it’s out today! Even in Game Pass.

redfall
Arkane, the studio that brought us dishonored, prey 2017 and death loop is currently working on it redfall, an open-world sandbox FPS with four-player co-op. With a few friends, wield suitably gothic firearms to take down hordes of blood-sucking vampires. Arkane describes the setting as his largest world yet. It looks very much like it left 4 Dead With vampires, today’s gameplay dive showcased Arkane’s immersive sim strengths, meaning there’s a multitude of ways to take on enemies and targets, with some uncertain results. redfall
The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom
THE continues with a new extension: Necrom. Expect a brand new class, the Arcanist, and some terrestrial and off-planar adventures as there’s a new peninsula to explore in the Mushroom Kingdom Morrowind. You can also go jogging Apocrypha, one of the infernal realms of the Elder Scrolls. Coming to PC and Consoles on June 5th and June 20th.
While last year was somewhat lacking in terms of Xbox and Game Pass exclusivity, with high in life 2023 is perhaps the most notable, but it certainly looks a little more action-packed. Bethesda is hyped a lot, delayed a lot starfield should also appear, in June no less. Do you think they will make it through this time?
