Final Fantasy XIV is now on Xbox, and the MMORPG’s transition to the system was difficult to say the least. On Adding a new currency and that users must subscribe to Xbox Game Pass to play, the community reports Xbox system-level bans on using the game’s long-standing slang and systems to group with other players within Xbox “Search group” function..
The news about this spread online on March 29, about a week later Final Fantasy XIVThe long-awaited port came to Xbox. The controversy started with a post on Reddit by user TGB_B20kEn
“Hello Sprouts! We are currently recruiting for a new free society that accepts everyone! Please have Discord because we have PC gamers! If you’re interested, friends!”
Some responded by asking TGB_B20kEn if it might have been the Discord advertisements that triggered the ban, but the user claims he had asked before if people were willing to use Discord on the platform and pointed out pointed out that Xbox has integrated the social media platform into its services. Other users report similar problems, be it when using systems like Final Fantasy 14Create recruitment codes or make general requests to get players into their free companies. Reddit user misterpinksaysthings states that a friend was banned for two days after providing their recruitment code in the in-game chat. Twitter user @BishamonVeena, however replied to the officer FF14 Account with another example of someone being banned for using the Xbox Find Group feature. This article doesn’t even use the full term “free society”, but rather the abbreviation “FC”.
The whole situation is a messy example of how automated moderation can backfire. Whatever the Xbox system reported here, it clearly lacks the context of what is completely normal Final Fantasy 14 Interaction. Now, after a decade of waiting for the MMO to come to the platform, Xbox players must find ways to navigate years of established terminology in order to experience the game as intended. But hey, at least they really nailed it aesthetically Final Fantasy 14 Xbox Series X system…that does not work.
We’ve reached out to Xbox for comment and will update the story when we hear back.
