Paul Haas, Martin’s agent, is quoted in the book as saying that although the author “loves” Thrones Showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss, from “Season 5 he started to worry about their way” [going down] because George knows where the story is going. He started to say: ‘You are not following my template’. The first 5 seasons stuck to George’s roadmap. Then they deviated from George’s roadmap. “
Martin didn’t say anything about this publicly and after the show ended wrote a blog post To commend Benioff and Weiss for putting together “a championship team”, although the post does not comment on the ending itself.
