The 4th of July is a day for chauvinistic myth-making and summer merriment, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by grilling food, watching things explode, and ordering a ton of cool stuff online that you absolutely don’t need but would still be great to have.

Trade was a major cause of discontent with the crown when a number of American colonies originally sent England packing, so it’s understandable that shopping continues to be a central ritual at the heart of celebrations marking the nation’s founding. Independence Day is a great opportunity to buy a car or a refrigerator, but you’re not here for any of that. Instead, I’ve put together an eclectic mix of Fourth of July gaming deals and culturally related curiosities that are on sale at discounted prices right now. Check them out. There are hundreds of cheap TVs to choose from, but I have two for you that should get the job done at either end of your price range. If, like me, you’re happy with gaming and streaming shows on a cheap TV, then Best Buy is currently selling TCL Q5 Series 55-inch 4K Displays for just $300 (33 percent off). If you want something fancier, you’re in luck, too. You could spend thousands on a truly top-notch TV with blacks as dark as an event horizon, but you could also splurge on a 48-inch LG OLED. Best Buy also sells these for only $800 (almost 50 percent off the list price).

Best Used Game Sales

GameStop currently operates a Buy 2 get 1 free on all used gamesincluding the (very limited) Retro collection. This is a great way to get your hands on bargains you might never have seen otherwise (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Watchdogs 2, GTA-V) as well as newer stuff that hasn’t lost value yet. For example, you could play some of the biggest games of 2024 so far, like Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Paper Mario: The Gate to LegendAnd 8 and save around $50. Have fun mixing and matching. Just make sure they actually have used copies of the games in stock.
