Late last night, in one of my typical TikTok fugue states where my eyes and ears are bombarded with Doja Cat songs and Twitch clips Real Housewives Fancams, until my crippling fear passed, I encountered something strange. It looked innocent enough – simple some concert footage from DJ Fred Again
“Wait, did I just find Keighley’s TikTok?” writes an incredulous commenter on the Fred Again clip. Hilariously, another comment came from Game Awards co-host Sydnee Goodman, who pointed out that she was also at the show that night. (I guess they don’t write about it.) The third and final comment that made my mouth water like the Trevi Fountain was: “Why did you say?” Titanfall

Funnily enough, Keighley’s TikTok has little to no connection to gaming other than his (although his profile simply says “I <3 video games"). very first post from 2020 where he demonstrates the PS5 DualSense controller. There is a clip in which the Muppets (of course they are the Muppets) make an appearance Christmas song Medley at Disney Expo 2023 and one of David Blaine jumping off a scaffold at a magic show in Las Vegas. But almost all of his TikToks are clips from concerts he’s been to –Paramore, Halsey, Blink 182, Florence and the machineAdele (where he Amazon owner Jeff Bezos filmed from a distance and set it to Bo Burnham’s song about him), Ed Sheeranand myself Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. He went to Coachella. He was in the Vegas ball more than once. The man is an audiophile.
I’m intrigued by this discovery – not only because it’s the only Keighley social media account that feels real and tangible (like a kind uncle new to the app) and not overly curated and somewhat robotic, but because he has such a small fan base there. At the time of writing, he has barely reached 880 followers while my unknown ass has over 4,000 thanks to some viral TikToks. This small social footprint is dwarfed by Keighley’s presence elsewhere: he has 1.5 million followers on Twitter and 56.8k on his Instagram account Zero pictures posted. It’s like I found a piece of Geoff’s private little mind that doesn’t pass through a marketing filter. He rarely uses TikTok’s hashtag function, and when he does, it’s very simple: #Paramore or a profile tag of the band performing. He almost always geotags and diligently leaves an Internet route marker for around 800 people. His food is like watching a springbok in its natural habitat.
Is this low-key TikTok actually Keighley in his purest form? A video from August 2022 that appears to show a person wearing a dinosaur costume in a public place with the caption “What’s going on?” suggests this is the case. But Keighley hasn’t posted any recordings since the Fred Again concert in November 2023 and that has left a rift in my cold, dead heart. Geoff, come back to TikTok.
