Sony’s God of war The TV show, currently in development at Amazon, is reportedly being rebooted two years after it was first announced. The adaptation has lost its showrunner and head producer as the companies reportedly look to take the existing scripts in a different creative direction.

First teased in 2022, Amazon promised this God of war The TV show would remain “incredibly faithful” to the PlayStation games on which it is based, including this year’s critically acclaimed one God of war Ragnarök. While that game’s director, Cory Barlog, remains an executive producer on the project, the rest of the creative leadership appears to be no longer associated with it.
“So what [showrunners] Rafe Judkins and Mark Fergus and [writer] “Hawk Ostby has come up with something for the first season and for the series that I think is both incredibly faithful to the source material and compelling in its own right,” Amazon TV boss Vernon Sanders said at the time. “So we think it’s going to be huge.” Apparently not!
This is the second PlayStation adaptation to hit troubled waters despite HBO’s success The last of us which is currently preparing to return for season two in 2025. A Horizon Zero Dawn TV adaptation for Netflix is also reportedly in trouble after Steve Blackman was reportedly removed earlier this year for toxic behavior. The project is currently apparently dead, at least at Netflix.
However, Sony does not seem to be deterred by these problems. Transmedia ambitions have already been announced Spirit of YoteiIt is Tsushima Successor that isn’t even out yet. The Samurai Gaming Story is said to be “at least one film and other spin-offs.”
