In the year since it’s publicly playable, is the multiplayer shooter Halo infinity did not receive a single new weapon. But if recent leaks are to be believed, a new weapon – the so-called Bandit Rifle, which looks a lot like the DMR from before gloriole Games—could join infinitysoon armory. Of course, players are already up in arms about this.
Halo infinityLaunched first with a series of betas and later as a full release in the fall, ‘s free-to-play multiplayer mode is based on a seasonal model with new maps, modes, and cosmetics (some free, some paid). every few months. The game came out of the gate with 21 guns. Some of these, like the assault rifle and battle rifle, were updated versions of series staples. Others, like the splitting Mangler sidearm, were completely new.
In the last few weeks, tests for Halo infinity‘s online co-op campaign is news of upcoming additions to the game like the water hydrant leaking on my block. Some players have gained access to the game’s Forge mode, which allows players to create custom maps and modes. But one of the most enticing discoveries in this latest spate of leaks was evidence of a fully functional bandit gun. leaked footage of it made the rounds this week. (Dataminers unearthed images of the Bandit Rifle months ago, but this is the first time players have seen it in action.)
Clips so far have shown a semi-automatic firearm that has a nearly identical silhouette to this one Halo 4 and halo 5 version of the DMR. However, unlike those previous iterations, the Bandit Rifle does not have a scope. You can aim at the sight using your sight’s built-in zoom feature, which means you can’t be “distant” (gloriole Terminology: If you get shot while looking through a scope, revert to Ironsights). According to tests conducted by some leakers, it takes four shots to breach an enemy’s shields. You can then finish them off with a single headshot or three bodyshots. And the bandit gun fires quickly (think: the gun of halo 5).
For some players like me, this heralds the long-awaited return of a fan-favorite weapon. But others have concerns. Halo infinity Pro Player Tyler “Spartan” Ganza – who is now a member of Faze Clan’s Pro Team after a split earlier this summer
Yes, but: It’s hard to gauge how a weapon feels before actually playing it.
“My brother in Christ, no one has used this weapon before,” according to the anonymous Twitter account Shitty Halo Takes said. “Esports ruined gaming and I’m going to die on this hill,” added another anonymous account in a tweet which has since garnered 50,000 likes.
People on both sides of the debate keep blasting the same topics of conversation in yet another instance of the defined divide Halo infinity
We’ve seen this game before. During the launch window of Halo infinity, The Mangler sidearm was absolutely dominant. You can take out an opponent in two turns: one shot, one melee attack. It was even unofficially agreed not to be used Halo infinity‘s professional circuit. In response, 343 Industries has toned down its effectiveness earlier this year. Now nobody uses the thing in casual play – it’s mostly useless these days – and the pros still frown on its use in official games, effectively removing one of them Halo infinity‘s 21 weapons from the pool. There is some concern among casual gamers that the Bandit Gun might be detoxified before it even gets a chance to bite.
But this is all purely hypothetical because to be blunt here, no one knows exactly when the bandit gun is coming Halo infinity– or if it is at all. Representatives from 343 Industries did not respond to a request for comment.
