Sam Barlow, Creator of Your history and tell liesShe’s back with a new game and a new puzzle. immortality follows the story of actress Marissa Marcel, who made three unreleased films and then disappeared. The game’s first trailer, released on Wednesday, gives us our first look at each of the films and lets us know exactly how players will piece together the clues.
immortality‘s trailer presents the game as an interactive trilogy of movies. Based on the gameplay footage, it appears that players will have to work through match cuts in the movies to find out exactly what happened to Marissa. Players can click on specific areas of any scene shown to them and will be taken to a new scene where the character or object they clicked is in a similar pose or position. Until now, all Barlow games have been about solving mysteries using unique, often fairly simple, gameplay mechanics. Your history allows players to search interrogation footage using keyword searches while tell lies allows players to use multiple features of a desktop computer for their investigations.
immortality doesn’t have a release date yet, but will be coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox Game Pass, and Windows sometime this summer.
