We have to wait a few more months Destiny 2‘s next expansion, The final formwhich is due out on June 4th. But thanks to a new developer stream, players finally have something to be excited about. Into the light, the game’s next update arrives on April 9th, and during the first of three planned livestreams about the update, something that Guardians have wanted for years was revealed. A real, honest, lasting one horde fashion. Let’s talk about Rush.
The Into the light Developer Livestream #1
During the live stream we see a match from Rush is played on a modified version of the game’s Midtown map, with some waves taking place at Pyramid Ship locations. The central loop of Rush Players try to survive waves of enemies while protecting an ADU, a device designed to protect the city. By defeating enemies, you collect scrap, which can be spent during defense phases on installing tools like turrets, tripwires, and more. The variety of enemies seems to span the game’s entire catalog of villains. These include more demanding enemy types such as tormentors or champions. Players must protect the ADU from enemies while collecting scrap, building defenses, and completing optional objectives around the map. It seems reminiscent of the Horde mechanics seen in Call of Duty Zombies
The announcement of Rush couldn’t have come at a better time. Destiny 2 has recovered from the poor reception by 2023 Lightfall Extension, which was also referred to as the reason for mass layoffs in the company in October 2023 as well as the delay of The final form Extension. Onslaught gives players something new and exciting to sink their teeth into while they wait The final formRelease date is June 4th.
