With Lucasfilm under the wing of Walt Disney Corporation, that pipeline may seem obvious, but it was only recently that Disney acquired the right to announce its release of the newly launched streaming service platform.
In 2012, shortly after George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney, a mega-Corporate organization he made another important covenant: tentpole company films will be streamed on Netflix. The partnership began in 2016, when Marvel movies and animated Disney characters began coming out of service. But in April 2017, Disney announced that the agreement would not be renewed. Disney Plus has been in the works, though it hasn't been announced for months.
The agreement does not allow Disney to reprint the entire movie over the past few years. In fact, The Last Jedi you live on Netflix even though the entire Skywalker Saga finds a home for streaming on Disney Plus. But there's one twist: all movies in the Disney-Netflix window will return to Netflix in 2026, according to report by Bloomberg. At some point, we'll need a Sith way to get a track on these things.
When can you wait The rise of the Skywalker on Disney Plus? In January, they both Aladdin and The Lord of the Lions they will start operating about six months after their release from the theater. In a sense, prepare for the infinite Episode IX renewed June 2020.
