It’s so easy to track your progress from the Outriders demo to the full game

According to a delay and a month long demo phase, looter shooter Outriders is available today for virtually every platform except the switch. Once you’ve played the demo, you can roll over your progress to the main game if you’re on the same platform, which developer People Can Fly made clear from the jump. But it’s amazing how seamless the transfer process is. It just happens.

Really. As simple as that.

Once you’ve downloaded the full game and signed in, you’ll see all of the characters (up to six) that you created during the demo. You keep all your equipment and in-game currency. You will be exactly where you have been as far as the story goes. On PlayStation 5, I was even able to use the nifty activity card feature to jump straight into the story beat “Talk to Jakub to go to the first town,” which ends the demo.

However, there is one limitation for the PC. they won’t be able to Carry your progress from a demo on Steam to a full game on the Epic Games Store. It’s worth making clear progress tied to your platform, not your account. You will not be able to resume the progress of a PS5 demo if you download the game from Xbox Game Pass.

It is refreshing that People Can Fly made data transfer easy. Such ease is not always the case. They expect the beta progress to be cleared for the entire game (see: avenger), but that doesn’t have to mean the same principle applies to a solid demo. A smooth sequel like this is a pretty good selling point and should increase the chances that more players will want to pay to pick up the game where the demo leaves off.

As for demos, this is the Outriders

it offers a pretty decent part of the game, including the cutscene-heavy prologue and the entire first chapter, complete with all the side quests and an arduous social center. The prologue is mundane, but once you’ve got your powers at the start of the first chapter, the gameplay opens up and Outriders becomes one of those games that you can’t put down – aside from the fact that you have to know because it’s a demo. (After completing the prologue for the first time, you can create a new character at the beginning of the first chapter.)

Outriders is currently available on Game Pass for Xbox consoles. It is not included in the Game Pass PC library. We’ll be thinking more about the entire game in the coming days.
