The full release of Magic the Gathering arena will go live on Thursday March 25th in the Apple App Store and Google Play. The digital adaptation of the original Magic the Gathering Card game has been available on PC platforms since 2019 and received early access for Android devices this January.
arena is a real version of the original card game and contains all the complexities and combinations that make the gameplay so profound and elaborate. The decks in this digital version of the game keep pace with the release of physical decks. That means players can fill their decks with the same tricks, traps, and powerful minions that are available in the tabletop version. Players build their card games from decks of cards given to each player in the free game and round them off with booster packs available in the app.
The mobile version of arena has touch controls, of course, but is otherwise the same as the PC and Mac versions of the game. Most importantly, it cross-plays with these other platforms. During the pandemic arena has become an invaluable way of keeping local gaming communities together and has become the official digital home of Friday Night Magic – a long-standing tradition where fans gather in local gaming stores for friendly matches or more formal tournaments.
